dont forget about rallycross.

here is the link to the rallycross schedule in MN:
http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/schedule.php

there is one this saturday, but it sounds like you are out of town. that is the easiest way to get to meet people in the rally world in MN.

... and once the car gets moving under it's own power, it is a cheap and crucial way of figuring out what you have missed during the preparation, and thus will fail once driven in anger. Much more fun figuring this out at a low entry fee rallycross than at a stage rally you towed forever to, paid a big fee to enter, had friends help with crewing and so on and so fort.

Preparation (on a lot of levels) is key!

Yeah. I'd bet Mike Hurst has a default email ready to send to anyone interested in building a Mustang.
Bob Lafavor in ND also has a built Mustang. He ran the 2.3 for the first few events to get coefficients and is now dropping in a V8. I'd suggest just getting it reliable with the 2.3, maybe a few inexpensive and value retaining parts for the 2.3 to get a bit more power but just try to get out to your local events and get some coefficients while deciding if you want to go V8 or a turbo 2.3. Advantages and disadvantages to either.

Nocoast: Thanks for the input.
Wildert: I will be working on contacting mark and mike for mustang advice. The engine needs some love; Seals need to be redone so that is first. I will strip the interior and pop in a cage here asap. This one is rustfree (thank god), and now is in the process of parting out the frontside of the 5.0 to the 2.3 I will check out the other thread to see what I should do here. Thanks for steering me that way; Like I said, I am not at home and lack my physical notes/ checklist on me, so I skipped a few things in my mind. Thank you for the clarification smiling smiley

One of the first things you ought to do is pull the rear springs off then jack the rear axle up and down to verify the travel. This is because people aleays say the Fox body is limited travel.

And on gravel you can get grip via travel.
so check that early so if you need to get more travel---especially when more power is used---you can add some towers or 'turrets" before doing the rear part of the cafe since you want to be smart about tying the cage into the towers.
Best to have the wheel/tire on the axle when doing this to see if the tire hits somewhere.
