who pays retail? sorry for being a dipwad and all but I cannot undsertand what that ballbearing AND sperical bearing is allegedly accomplishing? Cant say wahat the ballbearing is but I's betting it's a 600x bearing (big ID, thin and all 620x bearings are "light duty" like the wheel bearings on my Saab or the trannie bearings 6204, 6208 6204/22 6205 600x fambly are "weenie light duty" like 6007 (small side of the diff) If it IS 600x 0r 620x, what the fawk is it doing? The sperical bearing, if its the right size--ie 22mm or 7/8" (.866 for 22 and .875 for 7/8" ![]() At $400 we can feed in a lot of $28-30 bearing before match the cost. And the rebuild cost of 4 bearings total is always gonna be more... Rum, very rum... But its trick so it has to be well trick. Gotta run Jon will post some piccies, I'm sure we can make something nice for around the $200 mark is just 3 (always a spare!) maybe a smidge less if there were more, maybe a good deal less if there were LOTS. ^^cool....well, if we're putting all that effort into it, I'd want fronts and rears. Although, wait....my rears are a different story though since they're GC struts w/some adapter to fit the GD rears, I can take pics this weekend...those might be OK though....I know my fronts are slowly dying.
I'm sure we can find others to go in on a few pairs. speaking of my rear top hats though.....wait 'till you see what I discovered last night (more damage from NNR). |

Jon how big did you go on the jump? honestly i went pretty pansy over it, i was much more concerned with finishing then just getting a good jump in, and after a few stages i had a good lead for the class win.
not saying the jump caused anything but .. well , its a big jump so i would think that would be a likely situation. |

you mean the jump on stage 1? that wasn't much of a jump, and that wasn't what did the damage....all damage was from the off. When you see it, you'll know.
as much as people rag on DMS....I've actually been pretty happy with how their stuff handles. Not that I have a ton of experience testing multiple sets of rally suspension, but having been in Keith's car on RSSP's and John Black's truck and Kevin Welkers GC subaru, I like how mine handle. |

black had a really nice King suspension setup with external reservoirs and fancy stuff. what's under Welkers car?
I've only ridden in Aarons car (all wheels driven) , and mine, oh and Kris-jons. at the time both Aaron and Kris-jons cars felt more sorted. my i had my compression set too high on my Ksport. now my car feels "close" to how Kris-jon (tein dirt Trial setup) and aaron's feels. i'de have to drive them to spot the differences. i was actually really surprised with how Kris-jons car felt, it felt really good. first i have seen someone on the entry level tein setup ... |

The bearing used in the street and rally versions (pictured) is a 52XX series. The road racing version (lower profile for more compression travel) is a 6200 and is expected to be serviced more often. The bearing in the top of the spring perch mimics the original bearing movement of the OEM strut top. When you rely on the spherical bearing for angular deflection AND turning, it wears out fairly quickly and starts banging around. Using the roller bearing to absorb the turning motion, and the small amount of twisting caused by the spring compressing saves the spherical up top. The spherical is also an oversized piece compared to most camber plates. It's got a 3/4 ID and uses adapter pieces to accept just about any strut top. I'm not a bling/trick parts lover. And there are a few other places where I'd spend $400 on a car before good camber plates. But I've worked with these and seen them in use on track and street cars for years without issues. And every other cheaper camber plate I've used has either worn out or broken during normal use. |

When i had camber plates on my rally car (briefly) i was constantly scared they were going to break. i sold them to an autocrosser and went with some group-N if the Group-Ns work in WRC (with out a crazy high failure rate) i figure they are good for me.
I slot my struts and get my desired camber that way. though they sometimes slide (usually when i slide into something myself) Jon are you looking for the camber/caster adjustments? or just want an uber strut top? i think you'de be better served buying 2 sets of Group-Ns a reliable part and have backups for about the same cost.. Also the Rubber will absorb some energy where the camber plates won't. so the group-Ns should be less likely to tear through your strut tower top ... ![]() ![]() |
