Rally Finland...

Damn those little 1600 short cars (They're physically Golf II sized---but oh say twice the travel front, 50% more back) are sideways a LOT, like always...

Who else has been watching ( I have to keep this toe elevated so I go wrench wrench for 20 minutes , watch 2O---)

Hey what ever happened to America's Rally Gods and Superstars---they seemed to have quietly disappeared?

I hafta wait a while, cuz I don't have the hd theater channel anymore... dammit.
I do like the way the new wrc cars go. It looks like they're having to be *driven* again.

Watched some (The last 20 laps) of the NASCAR race. A Penske driver won. Not bad.
Watched some of the X Games "Rally". One of the "Chosen" did not win. Good Times!
My new Racing Underground password hasn't come through yet. Someone hook me up with a invite # please.

To Jay, HD channel is showing the Isle of Man TT these days. Having gone last year, I gotta say this is better than 98% of most rallies.

And a question to JLV..Which American Rally God's and Superstars? Buffum hasn't run for a few years.

Well I agree that Buffum is the ONLY US driver to ever do a gawddam thing and that ain't winning 100 nationals agaist hose-wads like me...

But I was thinking more about the ones that had millions of videos (all carefully staged on perfect calculated and built settings) that had won so much here in their Blue Subuarus and had people saying "WE'VE finally arrived!!!!" Seems since the new cars require a shit-ton more commitment and actual driving poof! not more rally gods from America in the WRC.

Anyone paying attention knows Block is using this as a development year and, infact, has just launched his latest 'show' car which is based on the M-Sport WRC Fiesta. Yes, he's chosen XGames over Finland, but that's a large part of how he pays for his WRC effort. One thing about Ken is that he KNOWS he has a lot of development and learning ahead of him. He's rarely the one who is claiming to be the next best thing.

Pastrana never did take a serious look at WRC.

Just like last year (and next year, and the year after, and ...)

I'm guessing Ken would rather do Finland than XGames... (But, Ken would also rather play in the WRC than not, so sacrifices must be made I suppose, although with the number of xgames competitors and fans wearing his [ex] shoes, tshirts, etc., you'd think he'd have enough sway to move it by a week or two...)

Anybody not looking to be a smug asshole by writing platitudes would know that to use a year as a "development year" you might want to enter as many WRC events as possible to 'develop" the thing that needs developing---driving skill.

How does not entering WRC events lead to developing driving skills and experience at the WRC level?

Seems "they" (the teams) somehow struggle on and develop the cars without his help.

And of course neither have to claim anything, they hire staffs of people to do that.

Last year was the development year. This year is the Whore year.
At 43 years of age it's game over for any chance of legitimacy in the WRC.
I'm sure the amount of money Ken pissed away with Malcolm Wilson, He might have won a US National Championship, definitely a regional championship.
There comes a day when you have to wake up and smell it.
Next up in this category is Bill Caswell.

How is it pissing away money?

He wanted to drive a WRC car. He bought the ride. Where is the problem?

You had to buy your rally car, too... right?
