Alex, you asked me about teaming up w/a double trailer for Gorman....we go to a lot of the same events: I'll go in on it with you if you want grinning smiley

I might actually be down on some joint venture ... i could drive to sac to load up for some events ...

Guess i should look at double trailers, how much does your current trailer weight?

Gene is spouting some truth about our old van,
Leviathan/Rumbles will be missed.
Its retirement home has a beautiful view of Mt Shasta.
too bad it'll be cubed, and cremated instead of being put out to pasture.

what do you know about the pre 2003 Chevy 6.5 turbo diesels?
I've found a few vans . . .
Now to find the $3000 I was going to get from the sale of the big rig.

I'm diesel stoopid myself. Lots of info on other forums about 6.5s. Seems like the big issue is moving some controller or some such to a cooler location that prevents lots of drama.

what i really want is a 2 tank diesel vehicle, set one tank up for filtered restaurant grease . extra (easily accessible) fuel filters , wrap some coolant lines around that gas tank.

Start on the Diesel, once the reclaimed grease fuel tank is warm along with its lines you switch over. then when you are done, switch back to the normal diesel for 60 seconds or so and you're good.

in theory ... i just need a good 2 tank diesel vehicle .. and money ... and probably more research ...

just call Justin Carven at Greasecar (rallyist with 2 VW diesels ) and he will tell you exactly what you need...

Uuuuuuh....do you really want to take a chance with a new, volunteer service crew, who have never driven a diesel in any form, having to fool around with a switch from real diesel to heated veggie oil, in a long rally? Not a good idea, in cool or winter weather, and with a far flung rally. You take a chance with ever seeing your crew and rig again! I worry enough about newbie diesel drivers doing something dumb like......"Gee I can't find diesel fuel, so I'll just put in gas for this tank....it should be OK..." then the engine disintegrates before they get out of the serivce station lot.

KISS...one advantage for gas engines.

I know a guy who put 10 gallons of diesel in his Porsche 911, didn't run too far...

Better to put diesel in a gas than the other way round. My dad is On his second 2005 powerstroke because a full service station messed up.
