Now, I can't spearhead this. I don't know enough about it to even begin to figure it out. But I'm willing to help. If anyone wants to try and get something going again PM me.

You have previous usage of the road(s). You're "actively" building a car. I've volunteered at a grand total of four rallies, and crewed at one more. You're certainly at no disadvantage to me - and I'm doing my best to spearhead something locally.

Give Anders a ring, he doesn't seem to mind the amount of handholding he's had to provide thus far for me - you can't be any worse. grinning smiley

Be the change you want to see, people. You want a Doo Wops (or a similarly sprited event under a different name) make it happen.

For amusement, in my search, I also found this picture:

And then this one:

Which is funny, but my response is "Yes, it's easy to look at the problem from 50 miles away and imagine that it's too hard without really knowing anything about what's involved."

Grassroots rally. It's what I think about.

Oh... it's not as hard as you think:

I can't do it this quarter, possibly next, though. I have school full time, and a job more than part time. Most of you just have a full time job, and a family. Take your family with you.

Tell you what, if I get 4 other people who will honestly dedicate time and money (I can't fund this myself) I will spearhead trying to start a rallysprint in a box after this quarter. But until then, there is only one of me and 24 hours in a day.

First of all, Just having a job and a family? dude, that is more work than you realize.
And I have still managed to complete 1 car, rally it, destroy it, and be 1/2 way through building the next one. Get out in the shop and finish your car!

Yeah, but Sean has kids which distracts his wife from noticing all the time spent working on the rally car AND she's his codriver, which means instant support! I have to rely on explaining that lack of progress on my rally car means I become depressed and will become kinda a dick and a bit of a recluse. Now if I could just quit hurting myself... I seriously need to think about doing so yoga or some lame shit like that. Elbow then back and now shoulder just in the past 6-9 months. Probably all related to going to the gym but not stretching or increasing flexibility enough.

Timm. What you are talking about is what we have talked about doing for reviving Rally Colorado. It'll depend to some extent on how my analysis plan goes in the coming few months, but if I can crank out the four-five analyses I need to and get started on the manuscript for my thesis by the end of the year, I think it's realistic to hold at least one RSIAB next year.

Being someone who came from "the family" part I can see what he means sorta. Well, at least about that part, not about school and work because I never was good at the school thing. But with both parents either racing in one form or another, both working and dad building cars, I still managed to make it to a crazy amount of all sorts of races (including rally) when I was a kid and so did both of my younger brothers. Of course I'm sure it helps when both parents are into it and all of the children love it too. I may not be able to do much work of my own on a car (and I do not understand how they work, my brain just doesn't turn that way), but I spent a lot of time out in the shop as a little kid handing my dad parts and tools and pumping brakes, etc.
