There's rumors there was a rally in the frozen wastelands of Columbie Brittanique and further rumors that there was at least three nice cars entered: 2 Toyota Corollas and one Golf---maybe some Nissan, too.
And about 20 other cars, presumably all the same and all blue..

But even knowing there's no telephones or even electricity---and what electricity there is is rationed because its a Stalinist style command economy, there must be some info somewhere, it all happened yesterday.

Any news? Linkies?

telegraph?

Don't think they could string the wires in that terrain, too remote, too steep, no population.

smoke signals?

I think the wood is too wet to light off. And add the isolation and distance from any civilisation, who would see the smoke?

Light overnight snow over Icy roads.
Some freezing rain in the day.
21 started 19 finished.
Two commodahs started, one finished.
The Nissan became an Evo.
Most teams spent some time off the road.
Some fast Americans stayed on the road and did well.
Even with countless sweep involvement the last 'real' stage started only 34 minutes late.

I think there was a twitter feed...
Some facebooking for sure.

If you fallowed along on twitter Warwick Patterson, Eric Irverson, and myself were overwhelming you with updates, including split times for the last 4 proper stages some including average speed and offs.

The rally was awesome, if you guys havent run it yet you are missing out

Of course on Twitter, why didn't i think to look there?
Was it cross-posted to Facebook?
Any other places other than a rally forum to "follow"?

Since I obviously didn't, could you tell me what the advantage to reading in that format?? genuine question.

With twitter the big advantage is that you get to read the same tidbit over and over and over and over as everyone just resends the same damn thing.

I think that some of the lack of information can be attributed to the female roller derby team that was at the bar after the rally.

Dustin had a BIG off. The car could not be recovered until the next day. The pictures that I saw were pretty gruesome.

Adam spent time in the ditch on two occasions and still got on the podium! Way to hang in there Adam and Britta!

There were five cars in the same ditch at the same time on the last stage! Don't let anyone blow smoke up your ass........studs don't hurt you and sometimes they are priceless.

Due to last minute car problems with the people that I was riding with, I ended up having to drive my 38 year old Saab. 720 miles round trip. Three 5000+ foot mountain passes. A Toyota truck wrecked right in front of us on one of the passes. It broke a wheel and axle off. The tumbling wheel just bounced off of the old Saab. No problems.

From a 'reader' perspective Twitter is much more passive. You 'follow' something once and whenever that person, or item (hash tag) is active it gets sent to you. I'm not an active user but the whole premis is that twitter uses text messsaging on phones to move the information, hence the character limit for messages. This has changed to some degree and many websites follow a specific feed.

From a 'poster' perspective it is a simple way to share brief 'thoughts' easily.

Strategically, twitter spreads messages fairly well. Retweeting is annoying but shows the 'word' is spreading. (and how)

Fundamentally, Twitter (microblogging), Facebook, and forae are complimentary and fit different communications needs.

Thanks. I knew about Decker and Henderson from fb, but did not know who won, though after having been there last year I'm not surprised.
