any update on how you are dealing with waiting for the update?
have you switched to chewing on feet instead of hands was the hand that got chewed down to the 3rd knuckle your own hand, or one you had on hand ... ![]() Would a car handle fine if it had a combination of 40s and 50s ? (assuming same spring rates and same valving) or is the weight difference alone going to make that impossible? i don't mean perfect handling, but not crazy off either. thinking/dreaming/planning ahead for the day when i have a GD and a GC rally car and might want to be able to use the setup off one, as spares for the other... |

I had a call from Bilstein yesterday, stuff is happening, papers are rustling and chips are flying.
But aside from a target price and a "projected" availability date, nuthin' is nailed down YET It is appearing that these will, when done be approximately 50% more than the current JVAB Soooper Bitchin 40s. It then comes to a "this versus that" deal... If you can afford the 50s, would it be smarter to run 40s AND have a spare front and rear in the car??? It would obviously make far more sense to simply start building another car. If spare parts are good, then a spare car must be even better. :p Dave |

Hmmm - white or black...or both...where's Grant?
http://boulder.craigslist.org/cto/2775942311.html http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2784028017.html Cool thing with the 4 door cars is they share the same body work as the compact, so the "Cup kit" high arch front flares will fit. Anxiously awaiting piccies of the 50mm as it gets developed. Dave |

I mean it depends on the car, but... Buy 6 x 40mm, and count on bending them? no thanks, Buy 4 x 50mm....yes....certainly for Subaru's. Chris |

More like (especially for newb-u-lar type guys): Drive all this distance to an event I paid all this moolah to enter and truth be told I have done under 20 events and still don't have a clue really so the chance of me fawking up and ME DAMAGING SOMETHING is HIGH--so wouldn't it be nice to have a spare.... Verus: I'm bad. I don't need nuthing. Cause I'm bad. Lookout. imho for the cash....
If it was me....i would get a set of 4x 50mm struts, and run them all the time. I would spend a couple hundred $ on a set of 2004 STi struts (or JDM STi struts), and find some 2.5" coil over springs from ebay. I'd monster some 250# front and 200 # rear springs on the STI stuff, and have them as spares in the truck, trailer, bin all ready to go and assembled. If you hunt around you can put these 4 struts together for about $500. I'd pound the crap out of the 50mm stuff, and if i broke/bent something bad enough to warrant a replacement, i would swap on one end of the spares....then back the eff off the gas, and finish. Having said that, i think the 40mm stuff is OK on a Subaru for Open Light/Production speeds. But you still need to be carefull, and back off the gas when stuff gets rough. On the 50mm stuff you can keep your foot on the throttle and plow over most things. Chris |

dropping 3 places at gorman, a USRC event (went from 3rd to 6th) I'd say the 50s would be totally worth it.
Everyone should listen up to chriss. If you can avoid it, don't swap just 1 corner to something else, swap both coilovers on the same axle. I ran 3/4s of Gorman with 3 JVABs and 1 40mm DMS ... it sucked I ran prescott on 3 JVABs and 1 KSport. it sucked even more (car was barely controlable at 90) We gave the front an extra 1/16th or 1/8th tow in . having the fronts overinflated helped the handling too. soon as i dropped the front down to 28 front grip increased, and the rear end did its own thing a bit more. Though honestly having spares is Key.. if you had 4 , 50s and no back up. if you mess up, or just get unlucky you are out of the rally. or begging teams that DNFed for their parts... (not a fun situation,... thanks Jon!) If you have 4 of something great. and your spares don't match, and you don't have 4 spares. you can finish, but it sucks a lot of the enjoyment out of the event. if you have the same spares, as your primary.. soon as you hit service you can be back to 100% performance .. and 100% of the fun. yarr! |

Well obviously the simple solution is 4 x 50 + one spare front and one spare rear--complete..Its win win win
I sell more stuff and get fabulously wealthy and maybe afford to enter an event. Youse guys have spare which automatically means you'll never need them... Until the time you forget them at home....
