By the way the camera is moving around, I would assume Toivo is in the backseat holding the camera with one hand, and his coffee in the other!

Side note: I was raised to believe I was 3/4 Finn, but recently found out that I'm only 3/8's, with the other 3/8's being Norwegian and Swedish. The rest is Irish, French, and German. All in all, a good ol' American mutt with tons of SISU!!!!!!

I think the camera is the custom mount the Plop Crew production team designs. Maybe for their clients? Or maybe they sell them. Haven't ever been able to find picture of it but it's not solid so it moves some with the car.

Funny to see this thread - found a DVD I made a while back of every Mikakiracing video I could get my hands on. Popped it in the player, have been listening to angry Starlet for the past hour or so.

Wonder if I should/could put it on YouTube since they apparently aren't hosting these anymore.

being an A-junior does not have anything to do with age... In Finland when we start in rallying, you´llbe a B-junior...Allowed only to drive 2wd /non-turbo car.. then, depending on your results, you get points, and eventually you´ll get up to be an A-junior and you´ll have possibilty to move up to 4wd, and after that, you´ll be "Yleinen"... next level, which most drivers won´t do is international...
Finnish Junior Championship again is aimed for drivers younger than 27, driving 2wd cars in grN,A, F or V1600..
And normally you can drive in the class you started until the end of season, You can go from B to A with 10 points, and from A to "Y" with 20 points... International just costs you a bit moe and more strict medical etc...
But, most of these incars are from Rallysprints, where driver drives alone, and is only allowed to either walk or use bicycle to check the route, normally about 1,5 miles, driven twice... Rallies in there are dark, no pacenotes..... but in either of those, he´s one of the fastest RS2000 drivers in the country these days...

OK so that under 27 thing is just Finnish Junior Mesteri.
Sound like the point system is more or less like your neighbor to the West.
How are the points given out?

You say he's escort driver, but that Astra I found is from 2011, is that wrong guy?


** just to help with English rally terms we say "blind rally" when there's no notes and just Route book..
But as you have seen, everybody in USA and canada is so fast that nowadays they all need recce and notes. Because it is safer....

Skinny fawkers, 10-65 x 15, shitlaod of nice hard studs.
If in an Escort as it seems, it really is surprising how nice it is driving a well balanced car...

There are good reasons why I push 240 and Xratty.
Both are very well balanced cars.
You want to drive thru a corner, drive thru it. Want to slide a little, slide a little.
Wanna be way sideways, fine.

I think these days , here, few have ever driven a car with near 50/50 weight distribution....and they don't understand how good that is, and how much fun it is and how fast you can go..
