This thread needs some levity. Here's a video by the MetroGnome team at Buttonwillow.

We usually pit with them since our car is part of the CBR1000 bike engine cabal. Sadly we're much less reliable so we skipped this race with a broken car. If you're really bored you can watch the Laguna Seca Chump race too. You can see our car parked in front of them as Colin pulls out of the hot pit.

race1 Show IPA noun, verb, raced, rac·ing.
noun
1.
a contest of speed, as in running, riding, driving, or sailing.
2.
races, a series of races, usually of horses or dogs, run at a set time over a regular course: They spent a day at the races.
3.
any contest or competition, especially to achieve superiority: the arms race; the presidential race.
4.
urgent need, responsibility, effort, etc., as when time is short or a solution is imperative: the race to find an effective vaccine.
5.
onward movement; an onward or regular course.

If you want to just fuck off and play, go run lapping days. But if it's a RACE, there should be a reasonable expectation people might just want to win. Even if it IS for the possibility of a 5 dollar trophy.

Making fun of someone for trying at a race is just stupid, even if the cars are shitty. Hell, even if it's a tricycle race, people will still try as hard as they can to win, if they want it bad enough.

(then again, this is probably just the angle of possibly the most competitive person on the forum haha [building cars is not a race, therefore, that joke won't apply winking smiley ])

Acronyms, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is ORP the place over on the dry side of the state?

Here's a general question: why do North American road race tracks seem to always be flat? (I know SIR has a little down hill thing, but generally)

You need to come see The Ridge, it's anything but flat!

Of the six tracks local to the PNW, I'd say only 3 of them are flat.

Portland, Spokane, and Mission (in BC): Flat

Pacific Raceways (formerly SIR), ORP and The Ridge: substantial elevation changes

Oh no, you win $1500 in nickels.

As we found out, when you try to deposit bank bags full of nickels, there are a LOT of questions asked. And even when you show them the C&D article with a picture of your team, with you in the picture, holding up one of the bags of nickels, they will still tell you to fuck off.
