Just go out and have fun.

Focus on how your car behaves under weight transfer, and putting the wheels where you want them. It's hard to find grip with RWD on most rallycross courses because either your turning or drive wheels will be in someone else's freshly thrown silt. So learn to look ahead, read the course, and put the car where you want it.

I've rallycrossed plenty of POS13s for coming on 8 or 9 years, and they've all felt fine with the swaybars connected. Best thing you can do is get decent tires, and lock up that diff.

For the few rally x's I have experience with I think a car that over steers better as the turns tend to be tight and slow. Most of the time it is hard to get weight transfer in a slow turn and if the course is wet or otherwise very slippy there will be little braking traction again limiting weight transfer.

I think you should ask your self do you want to win/ do well at this event or learn about your car. I always way over attack to see where the limits are and what I can get away with at rallyx - this is not fast and I hit a lot of cones and tend to spin out at least once per run. I try things I would never get the chance to try in the woods on a real stage with big trees to hit. I see rallyx as a place to play&experiment not a competition.

If you are going to take my approach be methodical have a plan of what you are going to try where and how you are going to change that from run to run. Learn. IE say on this turn I am going to try trail braking the first run, the hand brake the second time, and toss it in with lots of power the third time...

On set up I like very soft springs for rallyx, no front sway bar (esp if you still do not have the rear one) as low as tire pressure as you can have with out losing a tire bead (32psi is OK for street tires 27 psi on rally tires), The tires with the sharpest tread in front, hand brake adjusted to lock the wheels when used, take everything not needed out of the car (spare tires, jacks, tools etc).

Also if you are trying to do well, traction is important drive a line that keeps you out of the worst of the mud etc.

Have fun.

In the long run reality always wins.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will let you know how it goes. If I make this event it's going to be close. I'm a bit behind schedule. We shall see how it goes.

Yeah... I'm watching my in car videos from the last one I was at (got a GoPro for Christmas) and my driving has gotten REALLY conservative. But it paid off, won my class by something like 50 seconds over 700 or so seconds of competition time, and would have placed 3rd or 4th in the M4 class, when normally under the conditions (muddy snow/ice) I'd be somewhere around DFL. Main thing has been to slow DOWN for the corners so the exit isn't fucked up, and then wait for the car to be pointed somewhat in the right direction before squeezing the loud pedal down. Powersliding everywhere is fun, but WILL make you slower if it means getting the tires out in the really sloppy goo where they will pack up with mud and not clean out. One reason why FWD is generally a lot faster, their steer tires are self-cleaning, just add throttle.

Huh, must not be running by SCCA rules. The SCCA separated Mod 2 into MF and MR for 2012.

Makes me want to get a Neon, just so I can run it as 6mf, with the "6" carefully made to look like a "b".
