What Wilson said is what I am hearing (and planning the radio system for): the new road area used last year will have new roads added and the area extended. (And it was not just one road last year, so you're not hearing it quite right.) And then the other day will be the traditional southern Randolph County roads. I understand that Turkeybone is back and may be extended a bit. Tell 'em to stay tuned. |

Honestly, the biggest problem with WV, is there's no local population at Snowshoe. I know people come to help volunteer, and I may be the minority but I think it's easier to get volunteers who are local to the rally. Don't have to travel/pay for hotel.
If we get enough volunteers it can be a great event, but I have a hard time getting even friends that like cars to go down and volunteer. |

Which is why I offered up the Rally Mansion rental to volunteers... I think we had something like 10-12 volunteers crashing there. |

Yeah, that was nice. I wouldnt mind chipping an extra $20-30 onto the entry fee. If we had 30 racers like last year, that should be able to get 2 nice places there for volunteers to crash. Only thing is you'll have to have someone who is somewhat responsible 'incharge' of each place. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/17/2012 09:28AM by czwalga. |

Yes, locals are easier to get. However, in all the places we rally, there just aren't many locals. Say there's 20,000 people within 20 miles (not true at RWV, probably true at Sandblast, unlikely at BRS) and your "conversion ratio" is 1/1,000. You can get 20 volunteers. Then take a larger radius, like, 300 miles. The conversion ration might be 1/40,000. But that area is 225 times larger! If the population was uniformly "rally active" you would get 112 volunteers even though the conversion ratio is forty times worse. But the real difference is that for local marketing, you have to GO there. For everything else, you can do it (internet) from your house. Anders Grassroots rally. It's what I think about. |
