Oh and actually it was driving the wounded rally car back from Gorman to my house that resulted with Jeana demanding we get a trailer for prescott. we were on a DMS from burke and had an exhaust leak that made the floor very hot, actually i think the car was about 110 for the entire drive home (cooler than while on stage) but while jeana willl deal with the bouncy nature of rally coilovers + street tires. and even the noise and heat. add in a broken exhaust so even louder and hotter... and meh... now i have me a trailer...

Just need to find more crew with tow vehicles till we buy something to tug us with.. hehehe

Dodge truck or Dodge van?

If you can find something with a Cummins cheap that might work. Really nice engine wrapped in a mediocre truck. A used auto cummins may be asking for trouble depending on how hard its prior life has been.

Dodge trucks (the 5 link front end) once worn a bit develop some nice 'death wobble'. You'll understand why its called that the first time it happens > 60mph. Its simple to keep track of and fix most of the time. Just worn parts but it will scare the crap out of you.

I've owned (and still do own) a disproportionate amount of Chrysler engineering. I really couldn't recommend much of their stuff to anyone these days.

The nice thing about the E250/350s is that you can find the 7.3's in a pretty decent price range right now. You won't find a dodge diesel van.

guess maybe i'll try to go Ferd then. keep the (soon to be) wifey happy ... i really need to avoid a truck because my inner red neck will take over and i'll be out mudding in NV before long, breaking the truck that i need to tow me places... :| :\

Don't buy a sprinter van.....There are absolute junk when it comes to parts costs...Can only get parts from the dealer and even they don't want to touch them here in Cincinnati. $3000 for the driveshaft(can't replace u-joints) so have to buy a complete new shaft, starter $1200, caliber's$600 each. I towed atleast 3 a week and hear the same story from all the mechanics. Nice van's till you start getting over 125,00 on it. Then they are a service nightmare. The local Mercedes dealer won't touch them anymore, pushes it off on the dodge dealer's and then they don't want it.

One shop owner said he has found starters and caliber somewhere in Cleveland for nominal price's. I would buy the ford van over most, Gets better fuel milage then the Chevy. Like the dodge for looks.

I am picking up a late 80's Suburban with 6.2 diesel 4x4 from N/Dakota soon. Heck the rear A/C still workssmiling smiley

Around here the diesel trucks are about 1.5-2x more expensive than the diesel vans in decent shape. seating is an issue in the vans but someone has to drive the recce car up :-). Howfully mine will last a few more years and the new transit vans will start showing up used.
