There's rally in the US? yep we got it in canada too
You don't have to have a STI or an EVO to rally? nope, but you need one to win. you only need money to power them
You can rally a 2wd car? yep, but not as many girls will like you

what could go wrong?

somewhat more meaningful thoughts for club-level guys...

whose rear diff? subaru or toyota?
wonder how close it might be to the supra diff...

gear ratios?
has anybody made a subaru-T5 bellhousing?

same rear suspension as the new (2007+) imprezas, that the factory teams seem to have had problems with?
I hear a decently working rear suspension is kind of important for a rwd car...

Dunno on the diff, but the trans is Aisin-Warner.

There's a Subaru-AW bellhousing, check it out on this very internet forum! Currently being used to put a Subaru 2.2 in front of a Toyota (Celica?) gearbox and stuffed into an RX-7.

I recently found out how fascinating those Aisin-Warner boxes are. They allow swaps with damn near everything. Bellhousing from a Jeep or a Dakota, trans from a Celica, and I can have a rear drive Neon-engined car. (What? I like Neon engines)

AFAIK it's an all new chassis. Then again, this is the same company that pretty much has been making the same car since 1985, with detail changes every four or five years.

So hull out the rear floor and stick a Toyota solid rear under it.
