Hey Matt. I love it but it's not moving in that picture? Getting a engine running in a different vehicle is the easy part. Getting it to move and drive not weird and fix any design issues is the hard part!

well its mildly hard to get moving shots with no one to hold a camera. not unless we all want a drive by shot. smiling smiley

but I get ya, i have some miles on it, it's all up and down the folks drive way, sure no one knows that is almost a mile long and looks like most rally stages out there, but yeah there you go, if you could see it, you would probably understand why i was drawn to rally so much, probably because i have been yelled at for years about driving up it to fast. smiling smiley

also they have a huge old horse field that i have purposely been driving around in trying to find any noises, clunks, other weirdo things. nothing like hitting some whoopies with some moderate speed to drag your fuck ups out. as of now, the only thing i have to report was a clunking 10+ year old shock, so things are still attached where they are supposed to be.

i get a windshield tomorrow, i'll let you know if it blows up on the road. nothing like hitting the freeway to chase those gremlins out. grinning smiley

well, I can appreciate your efforts, looks good!!

I've got a question though, why would you remove an engine with what is arguably the highest output per cc for one that is MOST DEFINITELY the lowest!!!!

Well first the rotary was long gone and didn't even have a motor mount to start with, and I think a stock volvo motor may hold that title better. smiling smiley

Challenge accepted. smiling smiley

Drive quite nicely, took it up to about 70, windshields are for pussys. smiling smiley

Think my tranny may not had been such a great deal as I thought before, it's rattling pretty good on deceleration. So it's that or the third member, which felt really good when I redid the bearing preload, so I'm pointing my finger at the trans right now. Nothing a summer of rebuilding a tranny can't fix

Hey Pete, don't know if I've mentioned this to you but you've been posting things that too much sense lately.
Please stop. Thinking reasonably is ....is........is
fawk Idunno but at least I'm all drugged up and covered in bloody bandages so I got an excuse.
What would happen if people did things that made sense?

(Even if you know the rotary "1.3 liter" was a tax dodge the State in Germany let NSU run past TüV and really it drinks fuel, makes power and has power pulse into the crank like a 4.0 6 it is still in the car and were as reliable in hard use as anything in the world in normal use)

If you don't stop making sense I'm going to...uh um fawk I dunno..

Meh, I'm having fun, that's really all that matters. smiling smiley

Sure could I have made more blah blah blah with whatzit and a whozit motor, sure I could have taken this from this and mated it with this to make that.

Rally isn't always the best ideas put forward, hell we strap ourself into cars and fling them down gravel roads at stupid speeds for pity sakes.

In the end of the day it all comes down to what puts a smile on your face. sure I could had tracked down all the parts needed to put a rotary back in there, but it wasn't what I wanted to try to do. I wanted to see if I could do it.

it puts a smile on my old mug to walk into the garage and see what I built. I'm proud of what I have done.

There was a million other ways this build could have gone, this was my build and my money so this is how I wanted to build it. If you want a rotary powered rx7, go build yourself one, personally i didnt. smiling smiley
