Geeze thats awesome. Here is the xr, he is very motivated to sell. http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=22313

This month is tough to do anything. I paid the gov't a bunch of money for 2010 taxes, moved and had a month overlap in rent, paid for an HPDE for my fiance, bought some track wheels and tires for her and have a lemons car/safety equipment that keeps draining me. Don't ever believe anyone that says a lemons car is cheap, cause it ain't. Not to mention the month has just started....and I am already in the hole like 6k-7k.

I did however get about 5 hours this weekend to start the cage on the 'ol gti. Lucky I had already bought the materials and tools for that. Next weekend I'll snap a few pictures and post.

Lastly I missed yet another rallyx here at summit. It was yesterday.

I hope the deals continue thru the summer. Thanks John! That 242 is prefect!

This one is about an hour from me. I'm toying with the idea of just continuing to drive my volvo and build this for rally, but I dont have a way to get the car back to my place right now. I also cant find a decent second vehicle to replace the volvo with so I can start tearing in to it. Bugger!

I've been towed 50 miles home on the end of a tow-strap---in summer on powdered talc dry roads, blinding dust*... 50 miles of asphalt I'd have to take a Tom Clancy novel along to read and try and stay awake.

You must be able to barrow somebodys van and a toe dolly..
You moved yet?

At LSPR last year I towed Dillon Van Way's fiesta from kenton to houghton on a strap with my volvo, through a rain storm. It took about 3 hours to go 70 miles. So I'm no stranger to flat towing. I'll have to see what kind of scheme I can think up to get the car back here. I've got a coworker looking in to an astro van for me, so if that works out I plan to drive the astro while I build the volvo, use the astro as a service rig, and drive my wife's taurus once baby #3 gets here at the end of august and she "upgrades" to some minivan type thing.

We've been in our new place for a week now, this week has been my first week at the new job. Lots of wild turkeys running around in my yard and woods. I went for a walk on sunday evening and came back with 24 wood ticks on me.

Can you trap, shoot, or otherwise kill and eat those legally? Or do you need permits?
I keep thinking about getting a brood of rabbits to have for food. Gotta get the wife into the idea of eating rabbit. It's delicious and they are cheap and easy to raise.

What about goat? Trims you're lawn/weeds/blackberries and maybe is tasty? I've never had goat.

Yeah. A pair of female goats is a good idea as well. Milk production and ~8 month gestational age. Breed each one so you have a new baby goat every 8 months. So doesn't make much food. Not when you consider 5 female and 1 male rabbits can produce 75 to 200 babies per year, that can be ready to butcher at 3 months.

I'm trying to create my own rally team. Got a driver and a codriver so far, so now I need a couple of crew members...

I need to look in to the legality of getting on of those birds. Everyone at work has offered to come and help me out with my "turkey problem" once they find out where I live.

I did find one guy at work whos selling a new holland s-16 tractor, so no goats. Its like a riding mower on steroids, 48" mowing deck, a little loader bucket in front, and a pto in the back with a 3 point hydraulic hitch as well. Its like a toy tractor, but more useful than just a lawn mower. He even said he'd deliver it, so I'll probably pick it up once I get a chance to give it a look see.

Well one race down and we are still trucking. Just a little update in my world. Cage is coming along in the mk2 as well. I still haven't bought a rallyx car, hopefully this calender year I will have.

There where some very fast volvos there. 24 hour is next at VIR.

Just for fun. A couple hours of work on the mk2 cage. Its not built to a spec since its just going to be a club racer/autox/HPDE car for my fiance and I to learn on.
