Not to take anything away from the 2wd "top stage times" but didn't just 12 finish the event in the national?

Looks like:

Open > 2wd > SP

Dave

Yes but the fast 2wd guys were fast all weekend, not just at the end. There were only a couple fast awd cars that dropped out. Fast guy in 2wd still trumps mediocre AWD.

Thanks to Al for the opportunity to ride in his orange beast and to Peter Dix for making the trip up with him. The shit that happened makes rally what it is and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sean and Robert get huge amounts of thanks and praise. Rally wouldn't be the same without these type of people around it. It was a good effort to get back in the race but apparently racing a t-camed, NA motor, up a 5 mile hill is a no no. Oh well

^ This! Hopefully more results like this will remove the stigma attached to not running AWD.

I had the chance to watch Will's Silvia take starts all day Saturday and that thing was a monster, and well driven. launch control, anti-lag, and he managed to hook up the power really well. his final gearing was long - with him saying his top end was 130ish MPH, a definate advantage - of you had the balls - on Sunday's stages. (our top-end was about 100 MPH, ACP's 110ish I think he said.)

They were well driven without a doubt!

?? You sure Keith? I maxed out at around 160km/h at Cochrane whether in 4th or 5th, wouldn't pull any higher on gravel. I'd think the Evo would be good for at least 180. Unless it's limited by gearing?

Some really good competition, some interesting commentary by Matt Johnson on the live stream (archived footage here http://www.livestream.com/rallystream)

Will Orders attacks one hairpin on Saturday with authority compared to almost everyone else!

Ding ding ding. Accellerates like a bastard. Sunday's stages were insanely fast.

The "new way" in which RA trickles out the info during their events makes it difficult to remotely follow the rally online...to say the least.

When they took over from SCCA everything was in one place, you could go to their site and scroll down and get the entire story all the way down to the last place club guys. Now, you have shit for nothing on their site, a tid bit at twitter, a tid bit on Facebook, and tad on youtube... How is this progress?

Their (RA)web site should have everything, and the other wanker sites like twitter should be suplimental info.

Those aussie Datsuns were pretty cool, simple cars with serious power.

I'll tell my story later, but there was something about a blue M3 finishing a stage with the hand-operated shoe string throttle...

A good time was had by all.

Evidently, they don't care if its a total shambles...

Could it possibly be that they don't know about better ways to present the results so one CAN follow the developing rally?
It can't be that. It can't be they don't know about Marcotte or

Is it utter contempt for everybody, or plain obstinacy?

On a positive note, I did see a vid RA put out to I-rally and the production quality was pretty damn good. MJ's really doing a good job commentating. If they can get all the info together and deliver it >coherently< on one single web page it would sure make hooking new fans more likely, not to mention attracting possible series ....cough...choke...."sponsors"
