All the efforts and none to find a venue to do the real thing.
There was a lot of effort, I'm sure, to get the venues they did since they come with a built-in audience. The event is still a side-show, and will be until the fans start coming out for it rather than for the main attraction.
If they had gone to a venue better suited to the type of event most of us want it to be, the crowds would have been non-existant and the top end teams - that are the driving force behind this - would not be sustainable.

GRC isn't what you want or think it should be and won't ever be that. There's no point in being disappointed.

FWIW: I haven't watched any of the coverage adn I don't plan to. It doesn't interest me.

Well you should just to ponder how Americans can take something just flat INTENSE and exciting and in no time flat, spend a heap of dough and make it as exciting as watching a local SCCA Auto-cross ..

I'm totally going to recruit the FS Niggas to come drive clapped out rally cars based on their skateboard street cred.

Kids are so flighty today. Grant your a wimp.
I made it at least 5 or so laps before I fast forwarded...

mostly out of sheer stupefaction at how mind-numbingly horrible it was..

Again..

Whoever cooks up this shit and the hEx-gamez should be shot.

See I thought the X-games was relatively exciting with the 1 on 1 heats. There was quite a few close races.

GRC just seemed like a cluster..... of cars hitting eachother. Reminded me of bumper cars at an amusement park.

I'm kinda hoping it works kinda backwards and acts as a gateway drug to legit rally and rallycross for the fans. I want them to go home and google "rallycross" and see all the old crazy european stuff and think "now that's f'ing EXTREME!" And maybe, just maybe they start paying attention to other things with the word "rally" in them (hopefully ignoring things like Sturgis and bone headed shit like Bullrun). If that happens, then GRC is serving a useful purpose... to build visibility and appreciation of real rally, real rallycross, real rally drivers, and real rally cars. This is why I say I'm glad to have any kind of mainstream media coverage of anything remotely rally related.
