Sean: glad you guys are ok. I saw the car in the parking lot back at the hotel, and it looked bad, but mostly cosmetic.

Dan, I didn't realize your hit was as bad as it was. I have video from when we went past and it didn't look that bad, but then that was only one side of the car. Thanks for running back and waving us to slow down. That would've been a nasty pileup otherwise.

As for the window-breaker thing, I carry one within easy reach of the front seats, but I'm considering swapping it for a BFH - mostly to kneecap the damn Subaru drivers who pull enormous rocks out into the road. I figure it'll work for the windscreen too though.

On the whole, I had a lot of fun.

Special thanks to A.J. for driving my van to service every day and helping with crewing. Also for having the world's cutest boxer puppy.

But but but but but....

From Saturday results:
31 509 Dave Clark / Jenatte Clark Mazda 3 1:47:06 10 Group 2 9 C

That's what's confusing. He has a nice rwd car, and now THIS!!!

(boo hooo hoooo , snifle)
What have we done to deserve this?? (sniffle)

Oh look at that, on the standings page he is listed as in a Mazda 3 but on the entry list he is in the Celica. Some kind of typo, maybe? Since the Mazda 3 he did drive one time is the same one Barrett Dash is driving. DC Mk.2 can maybe chime in and clear up the confusion...

But but but but Dash is listed driving a Nissan Sentra..

We all know that all these modern Japonaise cars all look the same, maybe they just didn't check the licence plate numbers and just jumped in something that kinda looked like what they thought was their car..
Obviously they're all confused.

Proof he was driving his Sillycar.
Looks like he got the tail out a little too far somewhere as well...

Holy crap wotta fast stage. I'm quite certain I've never been on a stage road that's 4th and 5th gear for that long. How'd you place on that one?

I'm still chuckling at the descriptions you gave about persons who go out of their way to find rocks.

absolute fastest run on that stage was 62mph average. Jeff and Alex's time on that run puts them at a 55 mph average.

(queue rant about average speed not being a good measure of anything, except for maybe average speed).

That stage does have the longest straights out of any at ID, iirc one ~400, one ~280, and two ~100. Outside of that, it's pretty characteristic of most of the stages up there - the only exception being the south 4 miles of Grimes Pass that bring everybody's average speeds way down.

As a car owner, I'd have taken the creek...
Doesn't look super deep right there and probably isn't from what I recall of wading around in the creeks trying to cool off back in 09.

Window breakers...I don't actually see anything listed in the rule book under scrutineering items, nor do I remember anything ever listed on the tech sheet. Also don't see anything on the Lexan window being removable issue. Seems like somone had a rule about that once upon a time??

Yeah, you're right Gene. I'm getting window breakers confused with seat belt cutters because I always get the hammer window breaker with the seat belt cutter. And it's the seat belt cutters that dont' work so well on racing harnesses, not window breakers not breaking windows. Sorry, I get confused. Too much molecular biology, chemistry, and statistics on my mind lately. smiling smiley

Could always just put one of these on your rally car keychain.
