Or "is not something you can deliver." I can say that some of the people who have contacted me looking at sponsoring things, I've turned them down saying "I don't feel right taking that money, because I don't think you're going to get what you _think_ you're going to get."

Anders

I agree Anders. IMHO maintaining Integrity in business is one of the most difficult challenges an individual is faced with. Just because someone waives a pile of money in front of you doesn't mean its yours to take. You steal money and respect at that point.

I started this thread to poke fun at a naieve new team, who made some tall claims. Thats it. Almost every newbie does it, and they deserve to be heckled. Hell, just this Saturday, Timmy was sort of alluding to how fast he will be at his first rally...

hey now, I said my goal was to finish and not be last. I said nothing about giving Chris and ACP competition. grinning smiley

You'll probably get a press release on their 3rd place P trophy they got (while finishing 2nd to last) on day 2. These guys were driving slow, wasn't anything to do with the car. Sareen was going quick in the Broken Motorsports Fiesta until they ran out of gas.

I still think a P class fiesta can be quick. Dillon ran his bone stock Fiesta at 100AW after his overall win at Sno*Drift in 2011. He was at a major HP disadvantage but he had some stages where he was 2nd overall 2WD, in which I'm sure he never lifted his right foot. He finished 3rd in the national (of 3 entries) but he would have placed 5th overall if you combined all the regional/national drivers.

Seems most are trying for the MS1/B-Spec P route (non adjustable suspension, no LSD, 4.07 OEM final) , full P class route (fully adjustable suspension MS1 build with the Fiesta sport 4.2 final), and G2 route (MS1, Msport 4.6 final, ~155hp engine package, upgraded brakes?) for a low(er) cost Fiesta compared to a full blown R2 so there are a lot of options available. I actually think the full P spec can be competitive in the right hands compared to a G2 on a regional level.

The price point right now is nowhere near "grassroots" since you're buying a new car but once you start seeing used cars in the $6,000 range it should be a pretty hot rally car.

No where in your post did you mention a Volvo, RWD, T5, or mid 80s Japanese differentials, so you obviously have no idea how to build a competitive 2WD rally car winking smiley

I obviously don't. Mary told me that when Angela asked us what time we ran on one stage and we beat her and Ian by somewhere in 30-40 second range she gave her a "HOLY SHIT" comment.

But I think Duplessis still beat me by almost a minute on all the 10+ mile stages if I remember. That guy is just fucking on another level. Shit is just insane.

Aside from Stage 6 (Huebbe) and Stage 1 (we were stuck behind a broken neon for a while) the fastest regional 2wd car was a civic or and impreza. Billy kicked my ass on stage 14.

Fixed it for you.
As has been pointed out regularly, driving well makes the biggest difference in most of the fields in North America.

I had this big long diatribe typed out, and then figured I didn't want to be that guy today (trying to maintain a good mood for partying in Red Deer tonight).

Thanks Keith! Alls I gotsta add is, a big reason Chris is faster than everybody is because he doesn't LIFT (probably the same thing with the other "fast" regional guys). Watch the videos and you'll see!

the fiesta does seem like the next hot thing. I know Ed had a big silly grin when I was talking to him about his R2. would love to give one a try, the price tag however.

Unfortuantely, Billy was far behind on the road, and Kevin and I weren't keeping track of his times. We probably should have pushed harder on 14, but I suppose we thought we had the regional in the bank.

Actually, I think Kevin and I should be thanking Billy for the roll-over demo Friday night, it would have made things more interesting had we been closer in running order on Saturday.

Never lie when half the truth will do.

This man is a fine example of what a modern Rally America professional rally-racer should be.
A fine example, yessireee.
