i still wish we could have run Harris with all the snow and crazy weather. It was rather awesome frankly, although im sure there would have been an attrition rate to go with it.

So um.. can we run a winter idaho rally? Do we have teams/volunteers with the cajones for that?

actually you dont need many volunteers for alder or harris. Like maybe 6 and 7 respectively. Grimes need way more. But! The snow blocks the shit out of many of the roads and trails. We could have the roads plowed im sure. Its an idea that we have tossed around before.

BUT mind this. Snow is slippery. The roads have cliffs and rivers.

Well I did say cajones smiling smiley.

Would the keepers of the roads allow proper tires for such an event. Guessing the ground underneath should be well frozen at some point in the winter up there right.

Those pics of the cars in the snow are freaking awesome...

I think Seana did a better job than the fancy pro photographers did at Oregon Trail.

I'll pass that along!

well i would push to allow studs. 1.) we pay to grade the roads after the event usually anway. 2.) we are indpendant and can allow for them anyway. 3.) Idaho allows for studs on roads. Only issue might be transiting on the pavement with them.

any pics of 209? Its a four door, dark green 1993 Subaru

green?
Is that allowed?

on a subaru, no actually

my fickle friend's rally car color no no list

silver makes cars look slow and boring
white doesn't photograph well
she hates green on subarus (and she loves subarus)

those are the only ones I can think of off of the top of my head but there are probably more because she's a goofball (which is partly why I love her)

I was just informed that the rules do not count for VWs, all VWs are adored no matter what color.

Yea had fun at Idaho even though I wasn't in a car, I really really was pissed about not being able to get work off. But I ran into Aaron and the Utah crew when my friend at I drove into the camping area at midnight and wandered up to the nearest campfire. That was cool. Nice to meet you Aaron. Saturday morning was F-ing terrible as far as volunteering goes. Yeah the forecast failed to mention snow...

Aaron, I'll try to remember to ask her if she took any. Is that where you were?

Yeah, it was a bit of an adventure too. At first we were going to be 00, and then we were going to be 000 since I've got my ham ticket. Then, the stage captains still wanted to be 000, so we were going to follow the other 00 car (who didn't have a radio). [Combined with the drama of "who's driving 00?", "we'll take the datsun in the toy hauler", "the truck that pulls the toy hauler is busted", "we'll take the datsun on the tow dolly", "this is a huge PITA, let's just use my 4runner instead"...)

Then, on SS1, we had a total of 2 volunteers to run the ATC & start (not impossible, just difficult), and no dedicated HAM operator. We were asked to work ham for the start instead, which was fine except for the fact that nobody could hear us on the radio... Eventually (1030?) the EMT was able to get a signal out on the timing/scoring frequencies, but just in time for the hunters to appear on stage.

Sunday was much better grinning smiley

Who could not like this?
Makes me want to build a 122 :-)

I got this via email...

"for someone on rally anarchy and no I didn't take pics of the 00 car (I only ever take pics of the 0 car to get set up for shots) and tell the person he should build the 122!! 122s are sexier than vws and subarus combined smiling smiley

I hope to find out tomorrow how my red with black spots looks since she'll be at the rallycross. I tried running it today, did find the first run then died and couldn't get it restarted. Currently changing the alternator and I might have to get a battery. But of course, if a car sits for 10-12 years, well, some stuff will need to be fixed.
