Im search of Navigator
June 17, 2012 09:43AM
So I figure I should put this out as September is coming up seemingly quickly.

I will be needing a navigator for Olympus.

So in all fairness you should know that I am a novice driver and have never done a stage rally. I have done rally cross and some TSD's. The bulk of my driving experience is on a track, more specifically Pacific raceways.

Ideally I would like someone who has had some experience with navigating, would help lower the stress level. But beggars cant be choosers.

Anyway since I'm obviously new at this any suggestions would be appreciated and I can answer any questions you may have.

Including info such as car, class, and intercom will help.

I was checking out the Brantz, seemed like they were in the middle price range.
more specifically I was checking out the internationl 2s

not sure what kind of bells and whistles navis like but this seems to have a lot. I'm ok to go more simple too.

I will look up the Greytronics.

John, Max and I are trying to get together sometime soon, probably next weekend. You going to be around? Also I need a piece of 1/4 inch steel 3' x3'ish you know where to get a deal?

I personally am a simple is better navi when it comes to rally computers for stage rally. If you plan to do TSD rallies then you will need to buy a computer that will match those needs. Route book rallies you use them a good bit, and a remote zero can be great to have, bit in most stage rallies with recce, they are hardly needed. If you nav is worth his weight at all, no comp= no problem.

Worry about other shit for your first rally. (aka can you pass scrutineering and registration)

Chris, schools out so now I'm here all the time (except when I am at Bob's machine shop, like last night, and the night before and the night before night before night before night before night before night before night before. 0730 to when ever)

But what are you wanting 2 x 3 sheet of steel for?

What kinda steel?

Not for a sump guard of course, so what for?

Yes for the sump guard, to much?
Also Max and I were thinking of meeting up at your place next Sunday around noon to go over some stuff, if of course you are not busy. Make a plan for the skid plate and get the ball rolling, go over some stuff for Olympus.

Yeah, I'm trying to get as much of the worrying out of the way as possible. I know there will be plenty of challenges, bring it!

graytronics is now
http://www.rallyintercoms.co.uk
I've got one, Panda's got one, Marc - who hasn't raced yet has one.
They're a nice set, the boom mic is one of the nicest setups i've seen.
One thing you may find odd- it doesn't amplify your own voice in the helmet.
The co-driver started yelling, because she thought it wasn't working.
no engine/ignition/electric whine noise/interference ever.

'Hatches' will get the Brantz International 2 S pro (the one with the speed readout)
