I am surprised by the silence from JVL.
I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed.
Particularly in the other thread, I would have liked to hear some of his thoughts and ideas.

This thread is slightly different and I think his position would be more predictable. "It's Skye's forum, he makes and enforces the rules, if you don't like the rules then leave. Don't come into someone's 'house' and proceed to tell them how to keep it." And he'd be right, of course. (That said, even if we had unanimous support, I would never have expected the rules, or the enforcement, to change...)

I actually like almost all of JVLs humor.

And I also came from the Sailing Anarchy site. So naming this one Rally Anarchy and then trying to leash it in is not cricket.

From this and the other damn thread... I dunno, really? I'm not privy to all the personal bullshit that's happened between... let's call it "the person in question" or TPIQ and "the couple other guys" or TCOG, and frankly I can't be bothered to research it, internet archives aren't going to paint the full picture, any tales of it will be biased, and I just don't give a shit.

All I'm really seeing is TPIQ and TCOG getting into periodic fights; either entity presenting usefulish information on their own until the other one sometimes jumps down their throats, and each having their own way of typing shit on here.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I've gotten over having to get into Forum Wars For Great Justice and shit. It just feels like a couple people with a grudge against each other that's not going to be settled, and it's all nice and self-contained and I can just scroll past it when it flares up. It's the damn internet, for fuck's sake. But hey, that's me, and I don't even own any Volvos so who gives a fawk what I think? winking smiley

Don't take things personally, who gives a shit what someone on the other end of the Internet thinks about you... Instead of changing the forum for one person, why doesnt that one person change forums? Buh...these days everyone is too damn sensitive...

Awesome Skye !!

The rulez is ok, they actually make the declaration of taking personal attacks too far so lets move on. Message has been sent. John, we/I love ya (in a manly way) or at least 99% of ya. I don't want to see someone as passionate or involved as JV banned, shunned or stoned..(I'm sure he has been stoned enuff in his youth smiling smiley )

I can yell at him when needed and he can sure as hell yell right back at me. I think we're both ok with that. I don't expect him to respond to this thread nor do I request him too. No one likes to be chastized, especially us old people.

So again...everyone have a great 4th! Go shoot some flares at a the flat billed kids in their lowered Civics at the corner 7/11...

I agree 100% with Gene's comments.

I am surprised by the silence from JVL. I would like to hear what he thinks (I can't beleve I just said that!).

What I think is this---and you know all the details Robert.

I am fed up with this being brought up 2-3 dozen times 5-7 years after the fact again and again.

I have written you (Lane) and said repeatedly:
Bring it down and drop it off, come get it a couple of hours later.
There is a hoist right where it has been for years.

That will solve your big grievance. Or at least your excuse for repeatedly bringing this up out of context again and again.

Gentlemen do not change their minds years after a deal is done and defame others 2-3 dozen times.
Take it off line.

And note: gentlemen do not bring into a dispute a persons wife and children as you again have done time and again....I don't write anything about your "lifestyle' or economic conditions or relationships with others because i don't know anything and it's just not done by a man, much less by one attempting to present themselves as a "Gentleman".
You have done it repeatedly out of context and its on the internet forever.

I choose not to associate with people who do such things..

You know as well:
that I run a pretty loose ship and do---and have done PILES of things for "a pack of ciggies" and that I do not like being in the position of owning people things or money.
so I try and get things wrapped up ( I even got around yesterday to send a bill to Ian Seppanen for the full suspension set up I rushed off to him 2 months ago---that I have overlooked sending in all the haste to get it delivered, Thanks Ian for reminding me!!! smoochies!)

You also know:
that I have a very unusually good memory when I have a moment to think...
I think it is an impossibility to convince somebody of the fact......

that I paid 2 cash hunks of $400 and $200,
and gave them an acounting from Cam Grinders, around the corner from where you work, for: clean block,
install aux shaft bearings,
bore block,
surface block,
clean and mag crank A--rejected,
clean and mag crank B,
Hone rod small end
Grind crank 010

That's a few bucks there.
And then told said person I'm going to knock some off the bill for 5-6 trips across town, some UPS inbound and something paltry something for putting this thing together.

No mark up on anything at Cam grinders ---and I get 20-30% off from Doug.
No mark up on the J&E pistons
No mark up solely because I was in debt and thankful for the loan of $1200. for the earnest money on this place.

......if they have no memory of it.
No matter how well I remember it and how well anybody else remembers it.

That's what I think.

You know the distance. You know the time to assemble a motor, You know what you and i both do if there is a error in something, you know I do the same as you: we make the error right as best we can.

I have made the same exact offer in writing easily 2 dozen times, have said directly on the phone at least 6-7 times.

But I don't know what will ever stop this crap from being splashed all over.

Fixed it for you. :-)
Better yet, get rid of the Sin Bin, and any mention of it, all together since there is clearly no intent to ever use it again.

Yeah, this.

Get rid of it, and take out the rules. If this is anarchy, get rid of all the rules. If you want to know who/where someone is, ask them. Its not that hard. 99% of the time, honestly, it doesnt matter who they are. They'll obviously be who they want to be online.

You want this to be anarchy? Fine, lets just sit back and watch the world [forums] burn.

I disagree with removing the "real name" rule. It's the one thing that forces people to own what they say. You want to be an ass on RA, then go ahead, but know that everyone will know who that ass is.
