Behind Closed Doors at Ralli//Art
July 05, 2012 06:51PM
Out of respect for this community, I do not whore my stuff out. (At least, I try not to.) But a couple weeks back, I got a private tour of MML Sports, formerly Ralli//Art, in Rugby, England. We spent 2-3 hours walking around the facilities where Cowan, Makinen, Burns, Duval, Galli, and more had (some still have) their machines built and serviced. I took a metric shit-ton of pictures and posted them on GBXM. Link to all pictures.

There is a LOT to learn from how WRC-level Mitusbishis are prepared. If anyone here would like to see a full-resolution copy of any of the images in that piece, please let me know. Here's a couple teasers. Hope this helps someone.

I got a wife to finish cooking dinner for (in oven, 5 minutes left) and a crying newborn that wants fed by said wife (who is in bathtub) but I am stoked to view these so don't take them down in the next few hours!!!

Hey Grant, was it you that posted a photo a few months ago of your merkur in the garage, w/ the euro front end and compomotive/oz racing forest wheels.

I spent an hour looking for that photo last night, I'm sure I saw it on this forum.

Hey Sean. Most of the pics I have of my car are here:

Not totally Euro front end as I sold the $450 Cossie front bumper and opted for the $35 Jetta, which I then ripped off on a berm on my first outing. Really glad I wasn't on the Cossie one as it would have sucked to destroy it first time out. I'm on my third Jetta one now...

@Dazed - I posted the majority of the images I have on that one page. There are more, but that audience isn't necessarily interested in multiple shots of roll cages and chassis. I could add more, but not from the computer I'll be on today. Maybe over the weekend.

In the meantime, here's the full-res shots you requested. (Since they're already hosted.)

rear 3/4, Duval's

chopped-up shell

You can see any image in that story in full resolution by chopping the re-size code out of the file name. For example, if you open the Duval shot linked above and look at the end of the URL, you'll see the following:

20120612_112020.jpg

This is the date (2012, June 12) and time (11:20:20AM) the image was taken. When I use my CMS to resize the images in the cloud, it tacks something like this to the end, just before the '.jpg' extension:

-e1340897937828

So, you can right click on any image in that story, grab the URL, open it in a new tab or browser, then simply delete the -eWhatever before the .jpg and click enter to view in full resolution.

Hope this helps. Glad you guys like them. I could spend forever in a place like that. And if Malcolm or John Easton were to write a book about rally, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
