[redacted] has only competed at 2 rallies and is entered in the regional in an open class STi. I think I'm just going to send everything in today and let the chips fall where they may. I see no reason if he can compete in open that I can't.

Curious as to where the chips did fall (and too lazy to go hunt down the entry list smiling smiley )..

I'm not gonna lie, currently, I haven't even sent Mike an email back with my racing resume. I asked him to clarify about the CARS licence reciprocation agreement, and they will (if they realize it) ask you to provide proof of your competition experience. Since July 15th, I've basically been on the road non-stop, maybe a total of 10 days in Edmonton (but still working) so I've been crazy busy.

The more I look at it, the more it makes sense we just go down to buy a whole bunch of car equipment, crew for Peter Hunt, buy some fuel, and head on back to Canuckland prepared for PFR. I haven't even gotten the car yet (finally, this weekend) and it still needs some work. And I still have at least 6 days up North for this month. I really want to compete, but if it's going to be a huge hassle... it just means I make up for it by doing another event next year. smoking smiley

Hey Adam, remember that time we brought back 2000 liters of MS109E from across the border?

Vaguely, I'm pretty sure it went something like this:

And ended with something like this (Ft. Mclead):

The initial border guard was like "I don't know if you can bring that much across..." and then he started calling around.

After getting handed off for half an hour, he had worked his way up to a big cheese. Conversation went something like this:

"Hi, this is so and so at the Cardston border crossing. We have two gentleman trying to import 2000 litres of high octane race fuel; can they do that?"

*silence while he listens, with him going ya, uhhuh, yea*

"So, your telling me they don't need any permits or ANYTHING?"

*more silence*

"Uh, ok, thanks for the help" *click*

I will repeat, you are allowed to carry an UNLIMITED amount of fuel across Canada FOR PERSONAL USE as long as 1) It is secured properly 2) It is in containers smaller than 450L 3) You have TDG training ($35 online) and proper placards.

Now, this does NOT mean you won't be given a hard time by police or DOT. But it is within the letter of the law to do so. To keep your heatscore with the DOT/Polizia down, I suggest having the placards with you but not having them on the trailer. If the DOT pulls you over, plead innocence, install placards, continue on. That's my thinking anyways. Jeff apparently agreed, as initially he wanted to be placarded up, but we never installed them... or he just stopped caring, also a possibility as I drove for 90% of the trip.

I also suggest keeping it at 2000L or less, as both the BC government and Alberta government have guides on personal use of fuel of 2000L or less due to all of the diesel trucks running around with sliptanks. It just makes you that much less susceptible to hassle. Also, make sure to have at least one copy of the MSDS.

And for those wondering, 10cents per litre tax PLUS GST. So, on a 205L barrel ~$40 in tax. There was no taxes or barrel fees from VP, so each barrel was $475 all in. Damn good deal, and a damn good time. I'll have a writeup on how the actual trip itself went shortly, but the coles notes version is: F*&K MONTANA/IDAHO MOUNTAINS angry smiley

And for the love of god, don't ever try this going TO the USA, they'll send you to gitmo.

I can see you getting out of the truck after the crossing:

Great to hear you were not stuck in the bureaucracy sin bin.
