It's looking like Todd and I will probably be camping at the ORV park. I'm too cheap to pay for a hotel when it's still probably gonna be nice and/or warm out. Heck, I still camp out for the Mt Hood rally, though I was smart enough to sleep inside at Big White.

There is closer camping at the Mason County Fairground. It is between the Kneeland Wallace (Walmart) exit in Shelton and the airport.

There's a lot of names on there that haven't been around recently.
Too bad Dave Kern isn't entered. Would be a good shake down of his M3 Compact and with two other M3's at the event a good one for servicing and parts availability.
I looked at flights thinking I'd go out and film a Navy Seals Max Attack coverage of 2WD.

All the RA events have had increases in entries, not just new guys but some older names coming back as well. The only truly reliable metric for predicting entries over the years has been the economy I believe.

I had been thinking about it, but wanted to use Land's End HC as a shakedown event. With the ColoSpgs fires, a rescheduled Pikes Peak forcing a LEHC date change, I'm not sold that a tow that long is in my best interest for its maiden voyage.

I sure as hell wish I could add to the confusion. But the gearbox is still outta the car, ecu ain't tuned, there's too much to do and I don't wanna enter another event till the damn car is sorted and shaken down. So we'll be at Mt Hood instead.

Ah, thanks. That's another possibility. Although if we take the truck Todd may bring his dirtbike. Are there going to be other rally people camping at the fairgrounds? If so, more reason to be there. If not, then chances are the ORV people are going to be fun to be around.

*edit* just looked at the fairgrounds site "Only one camping unit and one vehicle allowed per campsite. Additional tents, trailers and/or cars must have own campsite" with that, we'd have to pay $40 a night ($20 each) for us to have a space for our tents. ORV is $15 a night and I didn't see that restriction anywhere (just a max of 4 adults per site).

Geeee whiz, people must be responding to the improved economic conditions in the last almost 4 years....

Wonder what could have caused that?

You're able to accept 'SNAP' for suspension now?

We had fun camping last year at Olympus. Made filming the rally a little trickier though. That's a huge plus one to Washington over Colorado, is the camping. Colorado has some great camping but there is pretty much ALWAYS fire bans anymore. And lots of people. That's why I'm only camping in the winter from now on.

Can you get me info about camping at the ORV? I'll add info about it to the Olympus site.

I almost always have fun camping at rallies. The '11 OTR, well.... the stories about it now are funny, but waking up in the middle of the night thinking you'd wet yourself not so much, only to find out my tent was flooded from all the rain. Welcome to Oregon I guess lol.

the hoof has probably passed into rally mythology, just like your 'fastest 2wd driver ever' title.

If you get a car (John Lane's) passed tech at OLY, I'll find the hoof for you.
