The hoof changes your life. After the hoof I sold my AWD car, got a Golf, went from mid pack Class 3 driver to fairly good Class 1 driver (do we even have driver classes anymore?); scared the trees, wowed spectators and so on and so forth.

Long live the hoof.

Not to stop the trash talking, but the Wifey and I will be in attendance as spectators. This will be our first stage rally and I am super excited to go watch. Anybody know of any good spots to watch? Obviously it will change through the stages but all the info I've gotten from the locals who have participated have said "follow the crowds" and "ask the locals'.

There will be a spectator guide available on Rally America website. You really need to follow that. Unauthorized spectator locations are usually frowned upon...the advance cars will move them. This holds up the rally and some landowners are very specific about spectator locations.

I have looked at this spectator information on RAs website, just wasn't sure if there was more too it. I was not aware of the the landowner's concerns though.

Land owner concerns vary from not wanting too much traffic interfering with their peoples work or duties, litter..this is a big one, fire danger, risk and sadly human waste.

From an organizer standpoint we need to be able to keep civilians 'controlled' , not a great way to put it. We've had people get bored and drive out of a stage while it was hot. People stand on the outside of a corner, people walk down the road for a better spot, medical emergencies and a variety of other 'are you serious?' moments.

This will be a great event to watch, there is gonna be a fight at the top that we haven't seen in years.

I saw The Hoof, once, from a distance, back when I was young. And I saw strong men staggering from its power.
