Help give back to your rally volunteers
August 27, 2012 11:59PM
I am looking for help with securing items for the Olympus Volunteer goodie bags. There are some great inexpensive items available on sites like National pen company, ect. What I think would be cool is if some teams had some nice small gifts made! Get 300 pens done with your team name and car number, you could get a key chain made. A cool sticker, or maybe a nice hero card! You would be amazed how well this would go over.

My other idea is if 5-6 teams can commit $100-125 each, we could get a nice travel mug or re-useable water bottle made with a nice message like"Norwest rally crews thank YOU!" or something with everybodys car number.

Time is wasting!

I'm trying to think, as a volunteer, what has been in the bags that gets used the most. The reusable bags, I still have them, still use them. The cheapo rain ponchos, although those usually don't have the lasting power to get reused, they certainly are helpful in the PNW, even if they don't get used on one rally, they may get used on another (I gave my last one to a volunteer who was getting soaked at OTR).

Something that might be nice, for those ill prepared, are those little cheapo stretchy gloves, the ones that look tiny but will fit almost any hand. Yeah, they aren't super warm, but better than nothing for those that didn't think they'd need gloves (happens all the time, I'm always loaning out my spare gloves).

Damn. Organizers should get ahold of me. My folks run a printing biz in their basement, they can get mugs orshirts or damn near anything else printed up with whatever design, for Not Very Much....

I know in maine we need nothing more then: Deet, Shit tickets and budweiser. The rest just stays in a bag in the back of your car months after the event. anyone car for a NEFR 2012 pen with lanyard. LMK.

Hand out beer.
Have a pick up full of cute friendly, scantily clad Hotinas handing out beer..

Have a pick up full of cute friendly, scantily clad Hotinas rubbing the icy cold beer all over themselves before handing out the beer..

Brilliant idea with endless possibilities.

Anything to keep the volunteers volunteering.

How about vouchers for table dances?

This is awesome! Sounds like JVAB Industries just donated 300 table dances! When can I pick up these vouchers?

I could go for that. I've found that as a girl when I get a private dance it tends to be a bit more interactive then when a guy does.

shit ticket?

If it's a plastic bag, the pens/lanyards/etc do just stay in the bag (though, if working a time control and the pens they give you stop working, it may get used as a back up). I've got a drawer somewhere filled with pens and lanyards and chapstick and who knows what else. Stuff that could be useful, but never gets used.

aahhhh, yes, this is something I always pack with me already, but I can see how that would be a good thing for a goodie bag, along with baby butt wipes (I also always have those, and danger tape, and and and)

I even keep a small folding shovel in my car, never know when I may need to make steps
