And taking billy's number of $22-25K relates to about maybe $32kish gross income before life?

We were pretty involved with ACP on his westward swing and are still pretty close. I know what kind of effort and money was involved and he is a regular Joe, not even close to the trustafarian status.

People have different motovations (teehee) for pursuing our sport and we've seen the cost in money and effort take its toll over the years. While Sprint is a major mover in NASCAR , I'd guess VISA supports much of rally eye popping smiley

Right now I'd say Tanner and ACP are two of the more successful ralliests to realize some financial success from their efforts. And they have both worked their butts off to make a living in motorsports related stuff. Reese is in that category and Block might be if he wins his lawsuitwinking smiley

Sometimes in life its the journey not the destination. But there is something to be said for recognition of effort. For example some events won't even provide a champagne spray and crappy trophy after driving 40hrs for an event...

Very wise words. Life isn't always decided by a black balance sheet. Most fun things cost money...it's better than ending up on an episode of COPS with a hooker who is really named Antonio....loved that episode.

I can see running the whole National series. Once you are good enough to win everything local to you.
See Chris Greenhouse this year.

What 'running the national series' get you?

A (slim) chance at fame, fortune, girls?

The number of drivers/codrivers that have profited from a national series can probably be counted on one, maaaybe two hands.

If they do it for the fun to say 'i'm the best in the country' then that's another thing. Maybe the only thing that MOST people can ever say from it?

Gene, I know you like ACP, and from my communication with him he seems like he's full of enthusiasm, and a pretty straight shooter most of the time ( I wrote him regarding some over enthusiastic "theorizing" about driving---this before he had really begun driving a lot and we ended up discussing at length the idea of what "metaphors" we should use in describing to "the general reader" driving and the "task at hand". He being a downhill ski fan understood what I was driving at and even openly conceded he was "bullshitting a bit for effect" , and for that I respect the guy and he even said he liked the skiing metaphor ---but...)but he is/was and lawyer in New Yawk City specialising in Entertainment bidness.
That can be in no stretch of imagination considered "a regular guy".

I'm a bit sad Chris went to G5 and national. Just as I caught up to him in speed he leaves. Now I'm pretty much all by myself in the central region with guys like Bushore, Eixenberger, Koll, Moen and many others I'm easily forgetting that either don't run at all or barely do.

But At least for regional events I don't just shoot for a G2 win, I try to win the whole thing if I can.

Ya but...while he is or was a licensed attorney in NewYawk...he hasn't practiced law in many years. He resides in Cali these days and has for a couple years. Has several gigs going in the entertainment(writing, directing, stunts) business to pay the bills. His mom btw is or was a judge in the Canadian justice system I believe. He is about as regular as they get these days and has translated his love of cars and rally into about as much of career as possible.
