Fuck!!!! If I was off work then I'd volunteer or spectate. When is it over?

Perhaps you could ask for the time off. It is over a month away, so plenty of time to get that request in.

Yeah but he only just started a couple weeks ago at most.. I think he's still at the stage where he has to take his hat off, look down---never look the boss straight in the eyes and refer to the boss as "mas'sa" and in the only approved sentence: "yes, mas'sa"

This is so close to the truth.....

hmm eye popping smiley

Yeah sucks to be a new hire these days...

I could imagine the poor guy saying "Say Boss, I've been slaving away for _____ weeks here and I was wondering if i could have some time off to go _____ at a car race?"

Boss "You attitude has been noted! " (harumph!) (as he glares and scribbles something in a little small book he carries)

"Missus Boss Lady ma'am, me been real good, and I was wonderin' if'n I could have a day off so's I can watch a bunch 20 year old Volkswagen Jettas and Subaru Le Gassys drive around one corner in the dirt for 3 hours?" *cracks whip* NO!

"Thank you Ma'm, may I have another?"

Pooobrecito!!

Hell I've been working for the same bastid for 37 years and I rarely dare ask for time off. Going down to Olympus today but stayed down at machine shop overtime till after midnight to get some stuff done and still feel guilty...as I should.

My boss is my co-driver. I don't know how I talked him into it, maybe it was all the Colin McRae and Dirt video games we play for fun softened him up, but he loves it and takes his job really seriously. Too bad his driver sucks, but we still have a lot of fun.
