Yes, at least two people that I know of. There's a difference between being a moderator and an administrator though.

True but it was billed as "These people would be a very important choice in helping to guide the direction of this community." Which sounds like more than a forum moderator.

But if people volunteered and it went nowhere, or if it was just a typical moderator, that is it's own issue.

How will you fund SS without any ads?

I'm hoping it's the "average Joe" that goes to the social media crap and people with something of substance to say and be refered to will stick to forums. We'll see.

Rally-L ran without ads a lot better than SS ever did.

Yeah the adds on every single classified is just nuts. Haven't really used it much lately. Most forums I have signed onto lately have a waiting period of several days/week before you can post anything. Took me almost a week to post and add on a tuner site in KY when I was looking for a part for the Talon project.

How much could it possibly cost if there is no real daily man labor involved?
One place estimated their traffic was around 11,000 people per month...
haitianhealthfoundation.org has more visitors per month...

I pay ~$100 per YEAR for my website that could have a forum installed for free and has free domain registration and unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space. It would take some of my own time but since it's just installing stuff, probably not too much.
I miss Ben's Rally Page myself. What ever happened to the classifieds from there?

What was Rally-L? Sounds like a mailing list. A website with news, visual media, and a forum is a different league.

I'm not saying there isn't a better way than the current SS situation, mind you.

Works both ways, of course. New owners put more effort into adding advertising and less into supporting the community, there won't be anyone to see the advertisements.
