I "almost" done caring about this...I just wanna go race again....I saw a nice 1988 Husqvarna 2stroke for $500 on Craigslist today and was contemplating buying it to go race in the Mexican 1000 just to have something to do...

Hmmm..wonder if I could get a movie deal out of that..."How a guy bought a $500 motorcycle and took on a 1000 mile race, 3000 miles from home..." Maybe I could help Caswell with his offer for RA...

I am going to have to think about it.

This "it was subsidised" (out of the pocket of a fabulously wealthy person who happened to jump on the rally fad for a while)

It was subsidised privately becaUSE THE GAWDDAM SHOW ISN'T WORTH ENOUGH for the organisers to "sell" it to even Subaru for 1/10 of the cost of a 30 second prime time TV ad run one time.

You galoot know that FIA charges anybody who enters a International or WRC event and lists "Entrant" as anybody other than a private schmuck, they are charged Metric Shit Tons" more money?? Not double but 10 times last time I looked at any supps.

You guys understand?

So the entry looks like this:
1.....Sebatian LOEB......Daniel Elena.......Citroen WRC Team.................it costs a bazzillion Euros

177 Pavel Numbnutski......Igor Klantskalle........1.3 Citroen....................costs them maybe $2500

If Pavel Lives up to his name and wrote on the entry under "Entrant" Boris' Schtupfkopf Diesel Garage---the plce that let's 'em use the lift and the high pressure wash as a sponsorship deal, then they pay a metric shit ton, like a "real" team.

The RA series isn't worth anything of sell-able value even to Subaru.

All the fluff listed is all fluff or nothing any podunk event in the entire rest of the civilised world has done for decades. As club events.

Let me grab my spoon and stir the pot here a bit.

Prices are going to go up, not double but they will go up.

There is going to be promises of clearer communication between R-A ownership and the organizers. Some of it will stick and some of it will slide out like oil on teflon.

All rights reserved, my conjecuture does not constitute fact. Tax, title, license, tags are seperate, you mileage may vary.

Hot on the heels of the $368 million payout in the FaceTime suit, patent holding firm VirnetX is trolling Apple again, this time with claims that both the iPhone 5 and iPad mini infringe upon four patents. Both devices, along with the latest iPod and Macs, were added to the lawsuit. Just like the Facetime case could result in a ban of the iPhone 4S, this latest wrinkle might put sales of Apple’s newest products in jeopardy ahead of the fast-approaching holiday season…

The four patents that VirnetX alleges Apple infringed upon cover secure Internet communications: U.S. Patent Nos. 6,502,135 , 7,418,504 , 7,921,211 and 7,490,151.

VirnetX wrote in a media release:

In its complaint, VirnetX seeks both damages and injunctive relief.

The accused products include the iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5th Generation, iPad 4th Generation, iPad mini, and the latest Macintosh computers.

Due to their release dates, these products were not included in the previous lawsuit that concluded with a Jury verdict on November 6, 2012.

Earlier this week, Apple was found liable of patent infringement in a Texas court and the federal jury awarded VirnetX a cool $368 million in damages.

Apple is expected to appeal.

Not surprisingly, the Zephyr Cove, Nevada-based VirnetX used the patent plaintiff-friendly Eastern District court in Tyler to file its complaint. Patent owners turn to Eastern Texas like corporations turn to Delaware – both reliably produce favorable court judgements.

VirnetX is fast becoming labelled a “patent troll” akin to Lodsys, a firm whose main product is lawsuits against deep-pocked defendants.

Brian Barrett of Gizmodo writes:

VirnetX is not a company that, strictly speaking, makes things. It is, instead, a company that collects patents the way joyless millionaires collect hermetically sealed comic books: for profit.

It’s unclear what the patent holding company has to gain by seeking both damages and “injunctive relief” in its case against Apple.

Usually, patent firms pester other companies for lucrative licensing arrangements. While the $368 million Apple would pay is just walking-around money for the goliath, the amount is nearly ten times that what VirnetX reportedly makes.

The only reason I can see for the patent company to seek a sales ban of Apple products is to squeeze more cash from the iPhone maker in exchange for not slowing holiday sales. Of course, Apple could solve the whole issue by cutting a check and buying its courtroom annoyance.

Should Apple just write a cheque to VirnetX?

Wonder what Phineas Fogg really makes his money on?

Listen up kids, the following are a few quick and easy life lessons:

-the square peg does not fit into the round hole.
-always shake it twice.
-you can not climb out of a pit by digging it deeper.
-when in debt you stop spending. you do not borrow more money.
-if a business is loosing money it doesnt need more investors or capitol. it needs to cut costs.

i bet if RA sold the RV they could afford the $200 per entrant for the next 3 years. they would save more $$ by not fueling the RV.

it's time to liquidate assets, not raise prices.

Please never ask anyone to invest with the above business plan Brian. I think the recent political environment has made you go a bit cookoo..... Absolutism is foolish in all its forms.

For example: If you are having trouble putting food on the table and paying off your credit card despite working, then selling your car is rarely going to help you long term as it is what allows you to go to work in the first place. Now, if said car is a luxury item (i.e. you drive an STI to work at a $15hr job as your only car rather than something practical) then selling it might make sense both short term and long term...
