Don't try this in Canuckistan. Need to be under your own power up there.

Huh. So it is. Looked it up. Section 17.6.1 in the CARS regs.. I thought towing someone was a time-honored rally tradition, but I guess not. I've towed someone 10 miles on a transit before, and of course at Prescott last year we had a case where the leading car rolled just before the finish of the last stage and was towed to the finish by the second-place car, and then another competitor towed them all the way to the final MTC. Just seemed like good sportsmanship.

I think that falls in my "I don't like it, but it wouldn't keep me from competing" category. I can see the reasoning though.

I'm not sure if this is a hypothetical question, or you're actually going to race without a chest protector.
I have never raced motocross, but I have raced flat track and a wee bit of supermoto. I think that flat track/supermoto are similar to rally moto (fast/slide/fast/slide/brake/jump)
In my experience wearing the most amount of protection has never been a bad thing. I usually wear padded shorts, knee protection, elbow (depending on event), and always a chest protector.
I have been slammed so many times, and only once I was unable to get back into the race or push the bike back to the pits. I know a lot of the guys I raced with just wore leathers, they usually didn't get back up that fast.

As Sean said, why would you not wear one?

As someone who has gone through the flying finish backwards mid-spin, I don't recall any time penalty for having done so. I understand though that if I'd taken out the timing gear whilst doing so, that might have been frowned upon.

Just trying to help out here:

Explain the "Novice School" (not necessarily in detail) that you are required to take for your first X-number of Rallys.

Also, perhaps an overview of the relationship between the Route Book, Prepared Notes, Recce, and Competitor-written Notes; and why each would be used - and more importantly, why any given one would NOT be used.

Oh my god...Honestly, that one guy with the peanut gallery comments needs a good crack in the mouth.

"That green piece of shit isn't doing anything"

"Aren't you glad you turned the camera?"

"I know you just rolled your car and stuff, brah, but we like got it all on tape, brah"

$100 to a bucket of shit says he was wearing a flat-brim hat.

This isn't really a question but more of a comment on the NCO. It seemed that the majority of the info given at the NCO was stuff that people should know before they've entered and shown up for their first event. They're was some good info in the meeting though. Perhaps making the info that is covered in the meeting available before the event? I know the info is already out there, but having it in the same easy to follow format as the handout posted somewhere on the NASA site. Maybe in the getting started section.

Because nobody else is offering caged builders. I've been working on this one 325i for four months as a caged builder but the customer cars keep coming in so it doesn't get much done on it.

Corey, Scott, good idea, I've added some for the Novice School.

It's very difficult to get people properly informed before the event. I should do a poll at the NCO: "Who has read the entire rule book?" I bet it's really low. So, even though this exact thread is about getting more info online, I know it still has to be consumed by the person needing it, and existing resources we have out there don't currently have a 100% record at being consumed.
