So I'm confused. He sold his old car that he wrapped around a tree or his new car? Because that is a picture of his old car. |

It wasn't clear that's what you meant by that. Why post a picture of his old car if that's not the one he sold? Anyway, no matter. It showed up on Bring A Trailer . |

Fack. The person asking "Boone" aka "79 corolla is a new Newb, I presumed he had no idea what an Xratty is/was, its just a picture of a rally XRatty.. Same car, different paint "first version, since I have it saved" OK? Is the space/time continuum back in sync? Wonder who they'll protest if they get beat this time? The son of the WT owner went after the owner of AMS after he got beat and forced a teardown of the motor. Dave |

Guy in a weathertech car (believe it was owner's son) protested an AMS car at some race this past season and the engine was torn down as a result of the protest. Sounded to me like 'rich spoiled kid couldn't believe someone beat his cubic piles of $$ so it HAD to be cheating' syndrome. Wasn't my car so I only heard 2nd or 3rd hand about the experience...either way, sounded miserable for what I can only assume is 'club' level racing.

Congrats on the new car.
Me as the buyer? I am not looking to buy a rally car - I am trying to win a major Masters (old) title Sailing in the Olympic Laser. IE I am spending all my free time on the water. In ten days I am off to a week long training camp then I sail the Caribbean Championships at the end of the month in the Dominican Republic. This is how I roll now, nomex replaced by neoprene. ![]() In the long run reality always wins. |

By any measure Cooper is a spoiled rich kid and he would be the first to admit it. He doesn't come off like that at all, though, he's a good kid and pretty humble. He won the ALMS GTC class championship this year and although he's not as fast as the pro drivers he can hold his own and maintain a lead. He's one of the quicker amateur drivers in the series. I don't pay attention to his club level exploits so I looked into it. What you're talking about happened at the SCCA Runoffs. It wasn't Cooper that filed the protest it was Fall line Motorsports, the team he was driving for. He was just the driver. Looking at the results he didn't even start the race, though I don't know why. Apparently the Mitsubishis were faster than they ought to be or something and Fall Line protested them on 3 or 4 things. When SCCA inspected the cars it turned out those things listed in the protest were legal but SCCA found a whole bunch of other things that were illegal. Since the things that were listed in the protest were legal the protest was not upheld but AMS were instructed to fix the illegal things before the next event. So they still had an illegal car but they got away with it because of a technicality. Such is the joys of SCCA road racing. Anyway, your take on Cooper is completely off the mark, I work with the guy. |
