100AW Pricing
January 09, 2013 10:44AM
Supps are up at 100aw.

National is $1750 early entry.
Regionals are $900 early entry. Interesting, if you decline to do stage notes and recce, you get $100 per regional refunded.

Now wait. Stage notes and recce make it so much safer. So the opposite ought to be true (from an insurance standpoint at least). Should cost less insurance if you run either notes or recce, or cheaper still if you do both! Of course, stay at home is cheaper yet.

Link to 2012 supps for comparing prices: http://www.100aw.org/supps_and_bulletins/2012_100aw_supps.pdf

Looks like in 2012 the national was $1100, so $650 increase from 2012 to 2013. Ouch.
2012 for both regionals was $600 with no notes/recce vs $700 for 2013 regionals with no notes/recce. So up $100 there.
2012 recce cost $50, no mention of how much the notes cost for 2012 though. What do those usually go for, $150ish?

In related news:
Looks like 29 paid entries to Sno Drift so far (with 2 more days for regional early entry to end), verses, what, 65 from last year? I expect some of the unpaid entries have paid Sno Drift directly, and thus aren't counted by RA as being paid on the entry list, but still about a 50% drop in participation from last year. Ouch.

This year all fees are to be paid directly to the organizer. There was an official bulletin issued last fall. Generally even unpaid entries are lsited. Looks a bit grim for the first of the year. Hopefully not a trend.

2012 recce cost $50, no mention of how much the notes cost for 2012 though. What do those usually go for, $150ish?

Regional:
2012
Notes: $185
Recce: $50
Entry: $620 by credit card (It was $600 if paid by cash, but almost no one did this and most paid by card)

2013
Entry: $900 (includes notes, recce)
$700 if you decline notes & recce and get a $200 refund
Note: Only 1 team did not buy notes last year, so we decided to make accounting easier and charge one flat fee for everyone.

So...
2012: $855 vs. 2013: $900 (if you did recce)
A $45 increase for regional competitors. (or $95 if you would have decided to buy notes but not do recce, using the old fee schedule; but, most do recce)

National is where most of the increase is coming from.

Yes, last year there were no cancelled stages and we ran the exact same stage mileage as all the national guys.

Seriously now, who the hell has $1750 just laying around to throw away for something that nobody really cares about. Median US pre-tax income is for white males -was just over $40,000/yr..or BA around 60K---for those working in their degree area...

We all know that wages have been very nearly flat for more than a decade...

I wonder what the boffins at Rallyamerica think I am theoretically going to get for a "National Championship rally" today verus a "National Championship" rally in 1997 15 years ago when the entry was $400?

So the "early" entry FOURHUNDREDTHITYSEVEN point FIVE percent higher..

For what?

We can assume that Fogg Senor is in the 1% who just happened to have slurked up around 450% more of the income they had back in say 1979, so maybe they think everybody has...

Question is: why has 100 Acre Woods bent over and taken it up the ***?

I apologise for a slight thread-jack:

Andrew, I beleive the ARC is using the RallySafe Tracking system. What sort of reaction did the competitors have to this being brought in and the increase in fees that (presumably) came with it. I know Honda is kicking some money in to support it but not all of the cost.
