Gotta say in the context of "the average Rally Anarchista" building and running a clubbie type rally car, if we try and remember "THE MAIN POINT"
(which is driving down some fun gravel road getting sideways---in case we've forgotten) learning to MiG weld is an absolute need and everything else is a major distant secondary thing, secondary or less to a whole long list of things....

Now if you want to learn to be a fabricator of waaay bitchin' trick shit, then of course the ability to weld aluminum is real nice....

But, with finite resources, finite time, and the Current Level of Development of the sport and the drivers, y'all have way more pressing things to spend money and time doing.
Like driving and learning serious ass braking.
The role of gearing in the performance of a car
Braking
Making brakes work correctly
torque
Braking...
basic of engine assembly.
BRAKING...

and on and on...

Assuming of course the gaol is to drive down roads fast and in control.

But as always, wot da phoque douze I's noez?

"Control" is completely over-rated, John.

"Jeebus Man! We almost took out that TREE! Won't you watch-out where you're driving?"

"Me? Hell, I put the thing on 'Auto-Cruise' three miles back - take up your bitchin' with the CAR......"

last time i played around with oxy/acetylene, we experimented with the right ratios to move from a torch to "rapid combustion" when you fill a balloon. We eventually modeled out the best golf ball shooter, ever. Good times!

The second pictures did not result from that experiment. Just fireworks and bad luck.

Any of you fabricator types have anything to say about the Maxus welders? I almost bought a used thermal arc but found a maxus 180 with 5 year warranty.
