Worked at a body shop while in high school, had a car come in with 2 large dents in the hood...from under the hood. Also the trunk and top of the rear quaterpanels had a nice square line across them. Seems mechanic at another garage had stipped out the oil drain plug. Decided to weld a nut to the pan (still no idea why) to fix the stripped out threads. Precided to blow the top off the engine, valve covers went into..into the hood. When pushing the car out a tech hit the door button and crunched the trunk. Bad day at that shop.

I've been looking for this one again for a long time.

What you have here is a Mk. 1 JVAB SOOOOOPER BITCHIN' SUSPENDER! Originally built for Jesus Christ's Volvo 142 in A.D 32. Very rare.

Why do you even need brakes? Are you some sort of pansy or something?

$1900 Estimate to replace the ring&pinion on a 1990 Chevy pickup, including a junkyard carrier.

Dealer pulling the trans out of my 2002 WRX SEVEN TIMES!!! to replace a broken 2nd gear (19,000 miles). They had it three weeks, no loaner, I picked it up and the "new" trans committed harikari PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, they didn't see a need in test driving it. Installed wrong gearset. I literally pulled it around and into the closest open bay and walked away, saying nothing. A new legacy showed up at my house later that night. Two weeks later, I picked it up, delivered by the general manager. No speedo. I went in and asked and they looked confused. Went and found the tech (that they "sent to califonia to be trained by the best factory guys from Japan"winking smiley He shrugged and said "mustta broke of the inside speedo gear when we dropped the trans off the table, we replaced the outside part..."

Didn't he drive a Plymouth?

I remember something about how he drove people out in His Fury.

In the past 3 months, I have recieved 2 Fords from the Ford dealer. The latest one is a 1994 F150 5.0L. Their invoice quote" vehicle is runing rich, send to LBR for diagnosis". I have no faith in dealers in the last 5 years. All the competent guys have been replaced with kids out of trade school.

The GM dealer just screwed my buddy over today. His 08 Tahoe started making a light grinding noise in the front diff. Brought it to the dealer, they said "Yup, it's broked. That'll be $5000". He said no way, so they offered him a $2500 discount. He still said no way(or more like, I'd like to get a few opinions, blah blah) and left. He then brought it to a local shop he uses, and it turns out his diff was bone dry inside. So not only did the dealer refuse to tell him what the issue was other than "We gotta replace it ALL!", they sent him on his was with an empty diff. Nice.

We he was shopping for his wife's Tahoe(09 LTZ), we went to 4 different GM dealers, nicely dressed, pulled up in a nice, newer BMW 7 series. We're standing there next to a $40,000 Tahoe, and the salesmen just stood inside and stared at us...Absolutely no effort to make a sale. Went to dealership #5, found THE truck she wanted...The first salesman blew us off because he didn't want to go get the keys to do a test drive. So he pushed us off on the newbie salesman...The wife goes for a 5 minute spin around the block, comes back, and cuts a check to pay for the truck in full.

Yet, I'm sure these guys go home every night and cry about the economy, imports, etc. They're too busy circle-jerking around the water-cooler to try and make a sale.

Obviously Jesus is not known here... Hay-zeus for those that don't habla, used to drive one of those Xsara Kit Car things. In fact he was leading WRC Catalunya 99 until the Citroen gods decided not to start his car and let le pilote francais (Bugalski) win instead.

So boys and girls now you know Jesus.

I have been told that God drove a two stroke 96.

After recently shopping for a new truck at several dealers I am stunned by the morons that they hire. One guy proudly told me that he had just gotten the salesman job after having worked at Value Village. I respect anyone that gets up every morning and goes to work but dam, I thought that a dealer could do better than that.

There's a saying at our shop, "when you've failed at everything else in life, you become a car salesman."

I have no faith in dealerships either, bc I work at one...

My sister in law took her WRX to the shop because it started smoking under the hood.
The shop ended up pulling the engine to remove the turbo to diagnose that the turbocharger needed replacement. Repair was quoted at $4200.
I said, "WHAT!!! WHy the fuck did the pull the engine to diagnose a blown turbo. Where are they buying the turbo, Nigeria?"
I said to run and take it to Troy at Suba. The shop changed their quote to $1900 for turbo replacement, work performed to date, and parts/labor. So she gave the go ahead and is going to sell the car after it gets fixed.
I'm pretty sure we have at least one used TD04 sitting at our shop. She didn't take the car to Troy because he hurt her feelings by telling her that her previous WRX was a huge piece of shit.

Most of what I serviced MB, Porsche, Ferrari, Opel wasn't too bad. Every now and then I'd see something stupid, but most of those things were stupid engineering rather than poor repairs.

Your post reminded me of an IMSA race I was crewing at Mid Ohio in the late seventies. Another team was having a problem....I can't remember exactly, but it was a major team .... possibly Al Holbert, but can't remember for sure.

Car was a Porsche 934 or maybe a 935 (can't remember). The car was leading or close. Pulled into pits for fuel and tires. (BBS wheels with a single large nut). After watching the team having lots of trouble trying to remove the nut for about 5 minutes with several impact guns I suggested they use a large bar. They ignored my suggestion and continued with impact guns for almost 20 minutes more. Finally they got a long bar and easily removed the nut, changed the wheel/tire, and left the pits.

They did not win.

Stupid engineering, stupid genetics, and boring vehicles I would guess from that list.
