Crazy weather here, we will see what tomorrow holds! "Snow" still on the ground here but warmer than expected so maybe it will at least not turn into a big mess of ice overnight.

Spent the day doing last minute prep and setup on the FY Racing Subaru, thankfully in a warm garage!

For those not on Facecrack, here is a video I did using footage from one of the GoPro cameras the FY crew had on the car and sync'd it up with the MoTeC data I had for the stage. This was the official shakedown stage we ran on Wednesday.

its nice seeing the speed-o-meter, and gps of the road, too bad no co-driver reading the notes, but that can happen next time. I saw the wiring on facespace a few months ago.. looked amazing.

question for ya... does the didgital cluster thats in the car require any special computer of sensors? or can i buy one and wire it in the suby harness? any plug and play units?
The digital cluster is a standalone data acquisition unit, so while it doesn't require any "special" sensors, it does require sensors for whatever you want to monitor. On most modern cars we can also get a lot of data off the OEM CAN BUS if it is still running mostly stock electronics.
thank you, i will have to get in touch and get more specific info.

I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to.

I don't always quote JVL, but when I do, it's because he makes sense. See my sig.

At the same time, if purchasing said unit isn't going to stop you from attending an event, then I can't see why you WOULDN'T do it. Of course, if you said "yea, it's either do an extra event or buy this toy" well then I think you just answered your own question.

Yes, and did you happen to notice the "Flying Moose" identifier where the front licence usually goes? Truth in advertising indeed.

I had an absolute blast out there. Set some good stage times for what I had, was full hoon at all the spectator spots. Even got some top 15 stage times near the end of the night! Ended up 2nd in Open Light and on the day two regional, ended up 4th overall.

Two and a half minute tire change on stage 4 killed chances of a higher overall standing in the first day. Then the cancelling of stage 5 also put a damper on trying to claw back that lost time.

I don't always JVL, but when I do, it's because he makes my unit go "yea, but toy" .

Looks like so far Ian Topping in the nice 240 Volvo is doing the right thing in the Club event --in Group 2..

Maybe he's getting used to it finally...Good Job

He was just on another fucking level to me this weekend. He definitely had the gift and I was lacking it in the sloppy shit. I was at least setting similar times to him on the more gravel/clear stages but when it was slushy/sloppy/icy he was always faster than me. Which in a way seems like something a FWD should be better at but wasn't this weekend.

I came prepared for gravel with springs, sways, tires. I had my 6 tractionized tires from Sno*Drift left over that I brought hoping to never use them. Yanked the sways off after recce and put on the tractionized snows. While the stages were icy, I would have liked to spaced out some of the blocks with some cuts that could have helped when I put wheels off line. I was just fighting to stay in line really. The ruts in the slush were actually pretty brutal and would bounce you around a lot as well.

I'm just glad I didn't end up on my roof or in a tree again and took home some hardware!

Pretty sure that is exactly what you said, the context is perfectly fine. If you are that worried, you aren't doing it right (my 2 cents).

Now, like I said, that doesn't change anything. If you can afford it without missing events, then why would anybody say no? But if you can't, I say skip it. And also, John only gets to make my unit go when I say so drinking smiley

Was really difficult event for us, newbies as we are, came there with only hard compound gravel tires and whole Friday turned out to be a nightmare..
Luckily on Saturda morning we got a set of Yokohama snows from Christy Carlson, quick tirejob and we got on stages with bit better tires, fun as long as it lasted, on three last stages of the day we went back to gravels and bye bye G2 lead.... sad smiley
Anyhow, here´s some sliding around the Ozarks from our car..

Hey Jari! Do you have the video of when we passed you guys on Stage 4? Or did you have video running when we were doing our tire change? Unfortuantly our camera crapped out halfway through the stage. sad smiley

That pass was sketchy, sorry if I scared you a bit. sad smiley

Hi,
I´ll try to upload it online... i have them both..
I was watching the mirrors all the time, saw you coming well in time, just couldn´t go too much on the side of the road, would have gotten stuck for sure...

You guys were just flying when you were finally on the snow tires. I really wish the event was a proper gravel rally, I really think we would have had an awesome competition between the Mallots, Bushores, Topping, you guys, Nickelson, Haas, Wood, Harvey and us.

I know it's a long haul for you guys, but you should come up to LSPR this year. But with our luck this year, it will probably do the same thing as 100AW and snow/sleet on us.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Did you still end up making it to the service control in time on the first service?
