Cool...is that just the west (not sure what RPM is..) and will that supercede any decisions in the future if CARS says no go?

I'll say this again:
Before CARS adopted the new 2wd classes the directors clarified that that the intent was that regions could retain Gr5 beyond the sunset date set by CARS if they wanted to.
The way ist stands now is:
Western Canada Rally Championship - allows Gr5 with an expressed intent to continue allowing it.
Ontario Performance Rally Championship - allows Gr5, their director was one who wanted the ability to continue the class to be clear.
Championnat Ralye Quebec:
- Jon Nichols Cup- allows 'ALL classes recognised by CARS for 2wd vehicles'
- Quebec Cup- ProductionSport class, normally aspirated.

So, it looks like Gr5 is set to carry on in two of the three regional championships and that Gr5 is now allowed in Quebec where it wasn't before. (What they intend to do if CARS does sunset the class is unclear)

RPM = Rally Pacific Motorsports, the 'regional' arm of CARS in BC.
Rally West = The 'regional' arm of CARS covering Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

See Morrison, that's great. The local chapters have sense, and mostly want to allow G5, and CARS allows that. But the new rules discourage new builds, and set the stage for the class to disappear. FOR NO GOOD REASON. Keyword good. I hate the idea that this idiocy might spread across the border.

I like the Finnish cup, but I also like the idea of combining an Open G2/G5. Basically just Open 2wd. But forget restrictors and displacement limits. If you have a wad of cash you can make any car fast and powerful, but with traction limits of 2WD, you don't have to. It's your choice! It's the perfect spot for guys to build and compete XR, Volvo, Mustang, FRS, Nissan 240 or 250... or turbo Honda or screaming NA Honda. And that 150hp CRX has every bit of a good shot against the 350hp Mazdaspeed. Simple, fair, encourages builds of new cars as well as old cars, excludes nobody.

That's the message.

Gene, when talking today about what will happen in two years, intent is the only thing we can talk about and the only thing that really matters.
