i think those are MINIMUM weights... you can always be heavy and under powered...

I know it's a minimum. But it's just like current G2 rules the only real cars that can get the displacement/lbs ratio are the BMW running 3L motors. My car is 400lbs overweight according to the current ruleset of G2. If there was a more reasonable weight limit I wouldn't care about every part I put in the car trying to make it lighter. I wouldn't care about carbon fiber this and that either.

Is there honestly any reason this has to be more complicated than combining G2 and G5? RA already scored nationals as 2wd....

I still think this is what needs to be done. Overall, 2WD, Open Light, maybe keep production for those who want to have some limited preparation class but I still say be gone with it.

I’m so eefing tired of these class discussions. Two classes: AWD and 2WD. Build what you can afford to run. Laugh when you beat someone who outspent you by 10x. Cry when you are that person. Why the constant turmoil? If a big manufacturer brings a bag of cash (and they need the cash in hand), make a class just for them (don’t hold your breath on that happening). If you can show that the cars are getting too fast (with real data), figure out how to slow them down then (dyno and weight).

Why do we have to keep having this conversation?

Dunno. The Atlantic Rally Cup switched to two classes (AWD & 2WD) years ago. The NASA National Rally Championship is two classes (AWD & 2WD).

And I'm ready to make any wacko class needed when the bags of cash show up too! winking smiley

Forever.
I'm so sick of it and its always driven by jellyfish aka people connected with "media"
who are always saying "OOOOOh no! were not doing this because they showered us with hookers and blow, Oh no, no, no.......

We're doing because "we" "feel" that its in the best intrests of the SPORT!"

I know I'll get stomped by G5 cars at some events if we combine all to 2WD, but I don't care. Gives me an excuse to keep the foot down to catch up to them on the stages. Pretty soon we'll have classes for ladies only leagues on first tuesdays of the month with male co-drivers who sleep in on Sundays.

But you still score events for AWD/2WD light and heavy and then have other stock heavy/light classes as well? Not many people really run entire championships so lumping the championship to AWD/2WD only makes a difference to the small handfull of people that run the entire thing.

I do like how RA moved the central regional scoring to just Sno*Drift, 100AW, LSPR. Although I just learned about this at the awards ceremony for 100AW...

(joining this discussion a bit late)
They did what? What the hell about Ojibwe and Nemadji Trail or out of region events like STPR? Was this in a Bulletin?

Ojibwe or Nemadji do not count. The regional championship page doesn't mention out of region but apparently you can still score up to 5 out of region points. You can see this because eastern guys who ran 100aw or Sno Drift have carried over points to their standings.

Honestly it threw a wrench in my plans for the year. I was going to run Ojibwe but now looks like I might as well run STPR to score out of region points.

Then I got Furloughed...

Oh Noez! Communismz!

Think of the children Anders.

Shirley you have mounds of NasaRallySport data demonstrating the overwhelming dominance of the large displacement and turbo'd 2wd cars over the other competitors. Think of the lawsuits when turbo timmy gets beat and his feelings hurt or worse yet, he has to blame 'boost troubles' on his poor performance.

There is really only one result worth looking at:
http://rallyracingnews.com/nasa/tennessee10-results.html

We have a person in a super horsepower factory supported Group 5 vehicle on the one surface where horsepower makes all the difference. Driver is generally considered to be one of the best in the nation and usually backs up that claim by winning whenever he shows up.
We have another similar driver in a well built Group 2 car.
The Group 2 car driver lost by 9 seconds on day one...

I'm pretty sure Josh said it was an awesome battle and he never felt handicapped. Their stage times swapped back and forth all day.

Hey don't forget Evan and I as well. We were just as close. We just thought Doug was going to blow us all away but that never happened. But on the first stage, Doug also didn't plug in his intercom. So that's to show you how good that guy is at reading the road!
