Trying to find out what wheels would sustain punishment of Tarmac Rally in NY, that I going to take part this April. It is roughf tarmac rally on local roads.
So it's has to be 17" (since there are no 16" Tarmac rally tires) My choice so far on 17x7.5 BBS off 2004 Sti. I heard they pretty good. Used set goes for $800 Any other options? |

Talk to Paul at team illuminate.. They carry braid and team dynamics.. He is a member on here. The sti bbs 17 are a great wheel, but if u wreck one good luck finding a single replacement for cheap... You can get a good set of team dynamics the pro race 3 or 1.2 for like 220 a wheel.. So under 900 for a full set.. And I have a feeling if its for a anarchy guy, Paul can get below the website price.."
I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to. |

Alex what's your name? We gotta stop this first name only shit, the requirement for a full name is one of the few things that has kept this place half civilised..
Is complying with one rule that burdensome? Look up at the top of the page where it says

Maybe because your every post here has been either totally bullshit cryptic shit, or assholery like this one. You weren't looking for information you, had already made a purchase, you were fishing for some sort of weird social reinforcement and your tone is that of a rather typical "central casting" auto-crosser/SCCA roadracers with insane "investigations" and over-analysis for driving around on some grassy field where it makes no difference at all.. And you were insulting from the very nearly the first post.. A whole ball of cliches which continues. What kind of reception did you expect? That were send you love letters because you have a Evo? Do you have anything to contribute here aside from your trolling? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Dmack macks 15" tarmac tires if I remember anyway?
Also, you don't NEED a rally tarmac tire. Toyo RA1 unshaved is what I used at rally TN and what the Wimpey brothers used as well. You just need a decent/stout wheel. Don't go for the gram superlites or enkei RPF1 8lb wheels. |

Tavarich! You see the problem? I know an Alexi in Ontario, another in Britski Colomija, another in Idaho, and another in Neveada How are suppose to keep all these Alexis separate when half drive Subaru, half have accent... If you can survive with 15", it sounds screwy but I love a really worn gravel tire... Really worn.. The sidewalls are so nice and thick, that the transition from grip to slide is like on gravel, a part of a continuum of grip.. Ever tried a real worn out gravel tire? No I haven't. I have a good supply from my local rally build shop of slightly worn tarmac tires ... Michelins, BFG... affordable. But only comes in 17s. That's why looking for good 17' tarmac wheels.... I got to start somewhere.... I bet sidewall emblem will add extra more HP to teh wheels.... |

A used tarmac rally tire is about as good as a bag of walnuts after its been heat cycled and sitting for a while. 2 months after a good scrub the tire is stone cold dead. The only good thing left is the stiff sidewalls. 3Get yourself some autocross tires. Rally NY is not rough tarmac nor very abrasive and with stages lasting less than 5 minutes and your car not being very powerful you're never going to overheat an autocross tire. Any other tire will never get to temperature to get proper performance. Those roads are too straight to try to look fancy with tarmac tires. Unless they're rain tires, those would work! |

Don't know you from Adam, so don't take this the wrong way...
Are you going to be competitive? If tarmac rally tires do give you 1 sec/mile will that make any difference for anything? I'll 2nd the autocross/track day tires. You'll be happy you have them if it rains too. We ran Dunlop Direzza Star Specs at the last Rally TN and they were great when it did rain. We ran 225 width tires on 16 x 7 OEM Subaru wheels. But, why isn't that applied to everyone? There's several people on here (can't quote one in specific right now) who don't have their name on here. John (and some others) may know who they are but is that fair for those of us that don't know who they are just by their handle? Next time I see one I'll pull it out! Don Kennedy |
