Whenever I use a GoPro I really find myself wishing for one thing. A Contour.

That's weird. I want to like the Contours because they are easier to use(when functioning correctly) and I like the rotating lens. I've had issues with them not wanting to power up and it seems the battery doesn't last as long as the gopro. The battery issue is because we end up leaving it on most of the day. Rob has a GPS version which is cool when it turns on but it can sometimes take a few minutes of messing with it to get it to turn on. Are the newer ones better?

Also the case on the gopro is awesome! I had one on my dirt bikes handle bars when I took a good tumble during a race. It broke off the handlebars and got run over at least a few times(stayed on the track for a couple more motos). All I had to do was replace the lens($20 for 2) and it was good to go. Also had it fly off the bumper of the car at 100 AW then get picked up by a media guy, almost no new scratches.

I've never had a problem with a Contour. My only complaint with them is that their audio input is mono-only, which means I can't feed one channel from the intercom and one from the ambient car sounds and mix them down later. I have a couple of spare batteries and they were pretty cheap. Just swap at service. I don't know how long they actually last because it's just part of my service routine.

I don't have a GoPro, but if they don't use a std camera mounting screw they should. My only experience with them was when Lars Wolfe and I wadded up an Evo (twice) and their cameras were robust enough to live through it (both times). I was pretty impressed by that, but I still bought a Contour.

1/4-20 female thread for traditional mounting, as mentioned.
