The girls seem to be prettier in Oregon.

You can't pump your own gas in Oregon.

Everett sort of sucks, but there's stuff AROUND it.

Portland's main city streets have exits... yes... like a highway... It's frustrating.

Portland's traffic in and out of the city can suck, but at least there's not a giant body of water in the way. (kind of)

Portland has some really sweet bridges.

Everett has a naval base, you can see cool ships come in and out.

Portland has more tree huggers. By far.

Portland is probably more bicycle friendly.

Everett is sort of like Seattle, but mostly the lame parts of Seattle... but it's close enough to Seattle that you can do cool things still.

Portland is 3.5 ish hours from Seattle.

Both are close to skiing/snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, camping, etc. It's the northwest. Outdoor sports are plentiful here.

I dont think I've EVER seen a state trooper in Oregon.

State troopers line the highways in WA, and if they pull you over, you're getting a ticket. County cops? You have a chance.

Everett is closer to UW, which is cool, because Go DAWGS.

Portland is closer to Oregon State, which is dumb, because, we'll, they're a bunch of stinky beavers.

Portland is also closer to U of O, which isn't so bad, because the Ducks have an awesome Track and Field program. (I might be biased for this reason, lol)

Just live Olympia and commute, lololol.

if a beaver is stinky it's not being properly cared for, or if the smell is appealing to most, but not to some, those some probably prefer sausage

I'm a beaver fan, it's got nothing to do with colleges, though almost every college I'm sure had some very nice beavers

Didn't have time for foot ball :/

If we had rugby or lacrosse, I would have played that. They got lacrosse right after I graduated, lol. I played rugby during/after in pickup games. Now that is a fun time.

Monroe proper is about 25 miles to Boeing, Stanwood, Marysville, Arlington and other
towns could be possibilities, the trouble is going to be the commute times...

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents:

-Each state has different tax structuring both for income tax and state tax. Depending on how you earn/spend your money it could make a significant difference.

-Depending on your work I feel confident in saying WA has many more tech avenues small and large that stem from Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing. Also (going back to the tax thing), the state is a great place for start-ups so you get exposed to a lot of innovation.

-Seattle proper and some parts of the Eastside have a significant number of residential transplants, many foreign and from CA. I happen to like the diversity.

-Both have horrible, horrible traffic. Seattle (and the 20-30 mile radius around the city) because there is so much ongoing improvement and construction. Portland (especially the immediate city) because there seems to be an overall lack of tax dollars for improvement and the roads are deteriorated and those beautiful bridges someone mentioned mix in with on and off ramps that must look like a bowl of spaghetti from an aerial view.

-Oh and marijuana and gay marriage are both legal now which will I imagine will begin to show an impact in some way over the next couple of years.

-Both are beautiful.
