i too am a college beaver fan.... but not talking about the mascots...lol.. i really appreciate all your input into portland VS Everett.. looks like every one says portland.. but im leaning toward everett job wise, are there any good places NEAR Everett? im not opposed to commuting.. i actually enjoy driving.. even in stop and go... can work on my car launch skills...lol...

not sure how far it is but I have a friend who has a farm outside of Monroe, I love visiting her up there, it's usually where I stay when I'm up in the Seattle area

Monroe proper is about 25 miles to Boeing, Stanwood, Marysville, Arlington and other
towns could be possibilities, the trouble is going to be the commute times...

I believe it was said the OR location was Clackamas, lots of beautiful areas out there that wouldn't have that bad of a commute and some of the areas might actually have a fun commute

Only thing that really sucks about getting in/out of Clackamas is the mall around xmas time screwing everything up

I hate commutes. I like being close enough in to downtown to ride bikes, quick bus or less than a 10 cab ride home. If you are going to live in a big city, etc.

I can't afford to do that where I live. Being poor ftl. So instead I endure my icky drive and have a house with a yard and a small shop and a roommate.

either state have motor cycle lanes, or have a law allowing a rider to ride between lanes?

If you happen to like boating, plan to air travel often or make a large income (no income tax in WA) Seattle/Everett wins.

If you spend a lot (no OR sales tax) Portland might be better.

Otherwise it is close to a draw in my mind.

Many nice open areas not too far out side of Everett - Jay lives up there he can tell you more.

In the long run reality always wins.

you can use the carpool lane in both with a motorcycle though can't you?

even the onramp light at one of the places I get on the freeway on my way home has it marked that the far right lane (out of three total) is for busses and motorcycles only, they can pull up past all of us and their light will be the next one to turn green, then it's back to the cycle in the other two lanes till another bus or bike show up
