RallyMoto events...
March 25, 2013 06:16PM
I won't have a car together until 2014 at the earliest, but the pictures of the bikes running Sand Blast piqued my interest. What other events out there allow bikes to compete? I have a 250cc 4-stroke Honda, and was thinking about upgrading to a 450cc 4-stroke Yamaha or similar this year...So a RallyMoto event or two would be right up my alley. It would sure beat the hell out of blasting up and down the same old quarry roads by my house in Michigan.

Do they allow GPS or anything, or do you just basically wing it? I'd love to have some way of knowing I can hit a hill flat out without worrying about a hair-pin being on the other side. winking smiley

This is the 2013 SB thread on ADV. ADV is ood place to ask questions about rallymoto, most of the competitors are there.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy... that _one_ thread, just for the 2013 event, is 848 posts, bigger than any thread on SS in the last year. eye popping smiley

With the exception of Idaho, Rallymoto died on the West coast....it's a shame. The effort, time and dollars required to do Rallymoto is a fraction of a car based entry.

Yup. I think it is a good premise but out here there are too many options for the bikes and most are way less money, or so they say. I'm hopeful in the future that we can make the UTV thing work since they don't haver as many options and with two people in it that may help.

I think it's a great thing...I would have though it would be huge on the West coast...Seems like everyone rides a dirtbike out there.

I was watching some of Sarah Roths GoPro videos... I'm not sure if SandBlast is just sketchy on a bike due to the terrain, or if video always looks crazier than when you're doing it first-hand(Or if I'm just now 25 and getting old and worrysome). I used to do some hairy shit on my bikes, but it never seemed that bad when I was doing it. Either way, she's a fun looking rider.

Those hairpins can be tricky...Last thing I need to be doing is changing a tube on the side of the road.

As for the 320 lbs of cellulite...Like they say here on the west side of Chicago: More cushion for the pushin'. winking smiley

Perfect. I'll have a G2 or G5 car together, but I wouldn't mind mixing in some rallymoto stuff as well. I'm on the SW side of Chicago, so my bikes don't get as much use as they should...Riding the local trails gets a bit monotonous. I need some HOPE and CHANGE!(I hear people eat it up when us Chicago guys say that stuff)
