Looks like the fast Euro test may come to pass at Oregon....

So, if John's theory holds, he should win by 8 minutes or so over the rest of the 2wd field.... Haven't looked at the entry list to see who the 2wd hot-shoes are besides ACP....

If notes & familiarity with the stages is more important the racing should be closer.

Brendan shoots for the stars in America

Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth will add to their already impressive international rally resume when they compete in the Oregron Trail Rally, round three of the Rally America Championship, from May 3 to 5. The brother-sister duo will drive for Team O'Neil in one of seven Ford Fiesta R2s being run by the team in the event, which is one of the most popular rallies on the US calendar. The Fiesta is similar to the one Brendan drove for the past two years in the World Rally Championship Academy but the US version is a 4 door model instead of the 2 door WRC model.

Held in and around the city of Portland, the event attracts one of the biggest crowds of all the Rally America events as the Pacific North West is a motorsport- and in general, a car enthusiast-oriented, crowd.

The stages are some of the nicest gravel roads in the Championship and combine both technical and fast sections in the itinerary. Leg 1 is held in the access roads and racetrack of Portland International Speedway giving a different flair to the event.

With over 70 cars entered, Brendan is looking forward to his first outing in the United States and testing himself amongst the best US drivers.

"I'm stoked that this deal has come together," Brendan said.

"I have been talking to Tim (O'Neil) and his team since late last year and was able to meet with them in December. We both have the same objectives to win 2 wheel drive for Ford and gain manufacturer points. I can't wait to test out the Oregon roads for the first time and get back to International competition."

Unlikely. One thing they will probably have in hand will be the ability to drive a pace that will just get them the win but not walk away with it. (Assuming they find themselves controlling the class.)

Josh, you're trying too hard to "prove" a point that you overlooked that Australia is not Europe.

That may talk funny, but it's still a variant of English...mostly. I think

And for fucks sake, you want to prove me wrong, go to Finland and prove what you can do.
But remember the old saying "Einmal ist keinmal"....

What makes Finland so special? Did I miss the memo on Finland is da best at rallying evar? Last time I checked, the Fins were getting their asses handed to them by a French skier of all things eye popping smiley

Make that two frenchies.

Edit-
AND, he was fighting neck and neck with Elfyn Evans (that guy who won the WRC Academy hyuk, must be a shitty driver) at the first round of the ARC... with Elfyn competing in a R2 Fiesta (the exact same car he's basically been driving for the past two years straight). Yea, the 2.0L Mazda has moar jam, but the competition in the WRCA is pretty stiff.

But John, don't worry, I'm sure you'll come up with some asinine loopy logic to justify that they still aren't as good as the fins... eye rolling smiley

The Finns are John's Bieber...

If Brendan survives OT anywhere close to a podium he is pretty good.

It's good to be Brendan....

He's out there pounding fancy machinery while we are pounding each other via the keyboard.

Just need to win a really big lottery. Or something.... Hee-hee.

You know Adam sometimes you're really just a mouthy jerk from nowhere.
You don't even know how little you are in a fantasy land. You need to see a little of the world and then maybe you'll shut the fuck up...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_Rally_Championship_records

Currently Finland is 1/12 the population of France, about 1/11 Briain's, 1/15 Germanys population, 1/57 of USA's , 1/6 Canada's , 1/4 Oz's.....
About 1/3 larger than Alberta....

When you look at those statistics in the link---try and think some of you young guys---not6ice that one little country has grown generations of WRC level guys relative to the very few individuals from all the others listed above?

Did they just watch videos and pose like Adam as "one of the more seasoned" like he was saying?
Or did the learn in the school of hard knocks..
You boys know the answer but you just want to pretend.
Your Troll-fu is strong boys...

So, wonder what the Ozzie thing about being Europeans now...

And wonder why OZ has produced no real WRC presence ?
Or Alberta?
Or USA?
(losing per stage on average more than the final 1-2 gap at the ed of the event, done by one guy occasionally--mean nothing)

No I didn't. From a yardstick perspective, this is the best we have. Brendan finished 5th and 4th overall in the WRC academy the past two years with a bunch of podiums thrown in demonstrating that he can keep up quite well with the best young drivers in yurp....

Video link fixed, just for you John winking smiley

Also, once again just like I stated in that other thread, it's hard to have a decent discussion with you John when you completely ignore even the most basic ideas behind a debate/discussion.

Simply put, correlation does not mean causation. Also, looking at those stats, while the fins (a LONG time ago) could be said to have dominated, there are so many variables beyond "they came from finland, finland rules for rallying, end of discussion" I don't see why an individual as smart as yourself clings to that one line of reasoning.

I mean, wtf is going on in the French Rally Championship right now? How did France produce two of QUITE LITERALLY the fastest rally drivers ever seen? France MUST be the mecca of rallying (I say this in jest, but it highlights my argument against yours quite clearly).

You're right Adam, it's hard to debate when this isn't a debate. Dabate is for 14 year old nerd, assholes.
You want to debate, and try and "score points, pick at trivial shit and YOU DON'T EVEN concede major shit errors like Ausssies being suddenly "Euros".
And evidently you're either intentional;ly ignoring simple historical record, logic and any reasoning ---in your zeal to "debate" or you don't know any of that and think that all truth is derived from simply "countering" some point..
Yes hard to have a normal dialog with people whose don't use anything but their fancy as a reference.

You share this seemingl7y compulsive trait to repeat platitudes and cliches, and use the throwing around of those as a substitute for thinking..

And observing.

And you don't seem to have any overall point except countering or "winning the "debate".

Logic is ignored (ie in your musings about doing something other that the consumer-product Subie you were saying some crap about Escort but "whatt do we have here like an Escort except BMW?"
I showed a short, nice clip of a car I like just because it is "LIKE" an Escort (simple easy cheap and above all GOOD and Balanced)

Your response to the video clip: nothing, no comments about it.

And then a bunch of excuses explaining laziness, limpness, whaaaaaa whaaaaaaa just why you can't do it, not to mention simply dumb assumptions too numerous to mention..(like "unlike you, I don't like working on cars....who said I like working on cars? Shit.eye rolling smiley)
That isn't a conversation, or even a decent dialog, its bullshit..
And that's just how you talk..

And complain if somebody points to the obvious that you're really just whining and complaining, not offering any insight, assistance, or help solving problems, at least what we can see from your words.
