Topic 2:
Yes the stopwatch proved under steer is not fast better to slow down and drive around the turn.

One of the hardest things I ever had to do while under steering towards a cliff was a) remove my foot from the brake b) get on the power c) dial out steering angle to re attach the tires.

To this day that was the longest two seconds of my life.

Under steer is easy but never good for any thing other than slowing down a bit befor the accident it helps cause.

In the long run reality always wins.

Reeves was really on it the whole weekend. The event was super tough as well. Kind of bummed because we would have been 3rd (almost 2nd with problems from ACP) if he hadn't showed up. But in a way, I'm glad he did. Seeing guys like Duplessis and now Reeves in an R2 show that my little 1.6L Civic with a close ratio box can keep up with the big boys if I keep the foot down.

I hope he comes to Ojibwe so I can compare his times to mine so I can get a good apples-to-apples comparison.

BTDT...although luckily it wasn't a cliff, just a fast right hander after a long straight. I missed the brake point, stood on the brakes, then right before the wheels got into the grass realized that wasn't going to do it, so I might as well try to make the corner at the speed I was travelling, got off the brakes, car shot off in the right direction, and all was good.

I think Cline was the same guy who parked his broken Mitsu on stage and then got into quite the shouting match with spectators over his failure to put out triangles, I think. Age mellows most people.

at olympus last year? yellow mitsu? if so, a bunch of us workers and co-drivers yelled at him and he got super pissy.

if not, move along, nothing to see here.

There is a fight happening? I'm joshing around with Aaron (hence the drinking smilie). He seems like a perfectly fine individual. He may not like me, but that's his prerogative!

I'm kindda curious what gets a final transit...non scored? How many people have not made it back to town and been told "Sucks to be you?"

Sure could change ones approtch to the final stage If you knew you didn't have a 40 minute drive to the MTC ahead of you.

If you look at the appeal and response that is now listed on the RallyAmerica site it becomes fairly clear what happened with the final MTC.
- The transit time allowed was inadequite
- Cars were speeding in town to make their in-times
- The Clerk of the Course chose to allow declaring times in the past and to have a 'no penalty' final transit.
- The Clerk of the Course also positioned himself as a traffic control, telling everyone to not speed - and not worry - through town.

What is slightly unclear is when or how competitors were informed of the change, but it seems that it was only once they arrived at the town.

I also think some damage was done (or finalized) in the transit, not in the stage.

I seriously doubt anyone started the stage, or the transit, with the knowledge they wouldn't be scored at the final MTC.

I know that it seems to me, at ff of stage 17, that it seems like half of the cars that finished were limping through and I was wondering how many of them would survive the transit back at all. I don't know what the transit after stop was like, but if it was anything like the last mile or 3 (no clue, I was going 5mph) then it would have taken most a long time and some pain too.

The call came over the radio to inform competitors about there being no late penalties/score for the transit came right as the second to last or last car was leaving stop control on stage 17.

Pretty sure the transit road got rougher than the last part of the stage.
