ouch Doug

I had a spectator on Friday wanting to know if a certain driver was here this year, they couldn't remember their name or car number, just that it was a blue subaru

Yeah, we found a berm and ended up like this. But it's just another Blue Subaru so I'm sure nobody here gives a shit. smiling smiley

The car won't be too hard to fix. Worst part is damaged strut. A couple days in the body shop and some bolt-on's and we should be ready to go for Idaho.

Definitely don't feel too bad after seeing the cars of Antoine, Lauchlin, Murdoch, Kun, Crane, Roberts, and Garth - all of whom rolled and looked worse than ours (except maybe Crane's).

Doug

The prettiest car out there rolled? Poooooor Garth!

What's damaged on the strut? EARS? Somebody here might just have ears ready to weld and is willing to help even Blue Subies...

Whip it apart, take the bumper off, slide the insert back in and plunge...if it plunges nicely and is just the ears CALL.

The ears didn't bend. The body did. Not a great photo, but the one with the "L" on it is bent close to the threads.

Trying to figure out what to do with it. Accepting any suggestions. smiling smiley I already called Rallispec and I might be able to get a new body shipped in a couple weeks, which may just barely meet my schedule.

Bugga.
What's the size of their insert? I recall they're some annoying size...

Maybe they could have trobled themselves to use chrome moly in ALL their stuff, not just the $7500 stuff.

Whip it apart. roll the inset on a granite table if you have one...
Whip other apart and do the plunge test..Swap in insert from "bent tube " into allegedly good 'un...plunge..
Gotta nail down if its ONLY the lower tube bent...or if there's more..and quickly.. EVERYthing takes too long.

It's 55mm. And this *IS* the $7,500 stuff. sad smiley But I don't blame it. I blame me. smiling smiley

Yeah, we're doing what you said to identify which parts are bent and where. I'll post if I find anything interesting. Thanks.

The transmission in Garth's Saab decided to turn itself into gravel.

What the hell was up with that last transit? It was like the Batan Death March.

If the tube is the same size as the Ohlins Subaru stuff, maybe you should call Derik. They pulled all the ohlins off of the school cars and have some parts left.

You had steering input, yet it seemed a fairly straight slide off. Were you on the brakes or gas in the final seconds?
