Showers or not, I'd camp with you anywhere. Except for maybe under a service rig. I can't imagine that would be any kind of comfortable.

At Sandblast, since we pretty much rent the entire forest for the rally, there's free camping (at least for the night of the rally) at the state campgrounds for rally people. Power hookups, bathrooms, and hot showers. It's $15/night per site otherwise... so you could split that 4 ways and get the whole weekend for about $4 total per person as far as lodging goes. A bunch of the moto racers camp out there. I'll be surprised to hear if there's anything cheaper.

At Black River Stages, we did one of services at a campground a couple years ago. I think that place was maybe $30 a night.

Grassroots rally. It's what I think about.

There have been quite a few out of state teams that come to Pikes Peak that camp the entire race week. Dave Carpetyan I think camps, or at least did last year.

We camped on Fir Mountain in 2009 so that we would be able to get into the stage to film without having media vests. Found where we wanted to film from, grabbed a 30 pack, went up a side road out of view, got up at 10 am and wandered down to the road. Figured we'd either be stuck filming at spectator area or have to get up at 5 am to get there before the rally crews. Camping in the national forest was much easier and bonus was it was cheaper.
