I thought the good stuff was:

They said you could actually do it.
Billy said he started with spectating, and then went volunteering, and had a great time doing that.
They gave the price of a top of the line (I assume) car. 120k, sure, I can believe that. Hopefully, that will discourage people from doing that.
They encouraged actually going out and trying some rallycrosses. Actually DOING something.

And the gave some props to NASA, which I liked too. smiling smiley

So, for something which appeared unscripted, without a preplanned message with talking points, I'd say nice work. grinning smiley

And also, thanks to those guys for putting the time in to actually do something positive. Cheers to that!

Oh gawd the comments...Especially from people you kind recognize the name, who are "rally racers"..One guy saying how its EASY! I bought a (Utter POS fwd tiny short POS stock POS Jap tiny thing) for 300 bucks and spent $7 and went rally racing!

(and finished 20 full minutes after NEXT to last who, was about 10 min+ off the leader ) and DNF in 2 other events, before disappearing

...Seems like Anders Greens 3 rally wonder..

Then there's the guy with the POS Jeep who is always moaning how SLOW it is, and who makes ZERO EFFORT at changing the final drive, or making it quicker and cries if you tell him anything, there's this very nearly always last place guys advising

"FWD is easier to go faster, and that's why everyone says they are faster. RWD has to be pushed to the ragged edge to be very fast. Plus, and here is the biggest problem in North America, it is very difficult to find a really lightweight RWD platform for cheap, but very, very easy to build something super light and FWD. A 200hp? 2000lbs Honda can be done very cheaply, but what are your options for RWD? BMW? 240sx/z? Any american muscle is 3500lbs prepped. Food for thought."

What a dork. This IS one of the reason rally never grows, idiots choosing stupid POS junk too tiny or just junk who use anonymity to claim status and then drive people in the wrong direction when they know better.

Evil immoral people.

I usually think of it this way: Which helps more, (whatever video I'm watching) or ANOTHER super-slo-mo video of $200,000+ car with sponsor stickers all over it?

John, why aren't you over at Idaho drinking beer? winking smiley

What there needs to be is "How to get started in GRASSROOTS rally."

Then you can talk about dead solid reliable $10K builds.

you mean you are taking issue with the expressed "reasonable" cost of $5-10k for a stock crash damaged Fiesta?
They were so casual about the costs, those few that were pried out.

So unblinkingly certain that "you go UP the progression , start in a 2wd car , then a SP car, then..."

No way can they cut their own throats since they set the business up to "serve' people with LOTS of money to piss away for nothing, but hey, you'd think they'd chat up 2wd since by simple numbers, there's a bigger market..

Maybe somebody can approach the video producers? Grassroots Motorsports did a buildup on a grassroots approach to rallying.

That could be a real interesting, real informative thing if they talk to people that actually build things for the real grass-roots....

So, how many hours of JV footage were shot for "Easier Said Than Done"? Maybe there's enough there to splice something together! smiling smiley

Can someone set up a webcam for JVL? Of course, it would go well over the one hour allotment. Maybe a series, like "A Plane is Born" but for a rally car.

I am looking for another Neon roller to build this year. I would be happy to host the build what it entails to prep an econobox into a 2WD rally car.
