I would donate prize money not to see you in a bikini. I really like the idea of a tulips only power stage to qualify for the NASA finale event. Prize money is always appreciated. I wish I was on your side of the country and had the car ready to go. John, we need to talk about suspension updates when things slow down for you. Generally speaking people don't like to complain. I forget the exact numbers but when I worked retail I was taught that one complaint represented 10 people who felt the same but didn't bother while compliments were maybe two to one. Fixed it for ya! Hope the e-crew has lots of stickers ready to go! In all seriousness, great job on pulling a good entry to the event. Anyone who steps up to make an event happen is doing something great in my mind. Really sorry we couldn't make it - had we, you would have had at least one complaint about the blind stage ;-) First Rally: 2001 Driver (7), Co-Driver (44) Drivers (16) Clerk (10), Official (7), Volunteer (4) Cars Built (1), Engines Built (0) Cages Built (0) Last Updated, January 4, 2015 ![]()

Well actually the comment about beating the kids came from an out of state competitor that doesn't know the roads. Our blind rallies here are very well liked. Between Barkers route books and the arrowing they are pretty detailed. Had a lot of comments from recce on how great the stages and route are. Did hear of a few flats.
Tech went well, no big issues. New Toybaru from Nameless Performance is very very nice. Car was built in a matter of about 3 weeks (Timm!!) and to a very high level of prep. Those guys are amazing. Hopefully there are no teething pains and Will can drive it with confidence. Byron Garth's car wasn't finished in time (don't know the story) and he withdrew at the event. Dillon is in Mike Goodwins extra Sube. Al Kun rented the Mazda 3 from Barrett Dash. That is a quick car even tho the wrong end does the pushing, er I mean pulling. Hopefully Hintz and Nelson don't veer out of control in Parc Expose with those awful old BMWs. Best part so far is seeing the Hockers again and meeting their daughter Maddy who is now 4. Damn the years are whizzing by these days. Battle starts today and I can't pick a clear cut favorite, too bad Byron dropped. Looks like there are still 4 or 5 capable of taking the top spot. |

Results? Rumors, ready to dish the dirt?
Did Gene change into something a little more modest than that tacky french cut bikini? Did the event grind to a stop because a triangle was found and there's not a rule saying anybody can proceed EVER? You're not at the event that is just over an hour from your doorstep? http://www.nasarallysport.com//results/2013-Nameless-Performance-Stage-Rally-overall-detail.htm Lots of raw data there, some stories to be fleshed out for sure Derik Nelson nearly a minute ahead of Burress with insanely consistant times. (Good thing those 3l 6 cyl cars don't give any advantage whatsoever.) First awd car is 34 seconds back from Burress-es and then 1:13 back to 4th. (edited because scores are still being updated. Another 6 cyl car, albeit awd, shot up the running order) TNAI Dave Clark all the way up in 5th ovearall now. Orders max late at the first service, but there has to be more to that story. Hintzs out with power steering failure. VanWay Rolled out in a rented car (Goodwin's) Neher out with an accident on 3 but that's all online Hopefully we'll see some news soon. Never was much a fan of Van Way. I've seen him drive and sort of filed him in the "mediocre driver, big budget" category. Lost more respect for him after seeing him in a meltdown at an event a few years ago. He seems to've done pretty well in the two stages he made it through though. I'm wondering how he rolled.
Looking at the scores, it looks like almost all the top AWD guys had at least one excessively-long stage time. Tingwu had a bad SS6, Mark had a bad SS3, Chris had a bad SS6...what's the scoop with the AWD guys? Dave Clark had a slow SS6, too. Did Jamie and Gary get married? How did Adam and Britta rack up 14+ minutes in penalties? What happened to Will Orders? How'd Nate roll? Nice to see Tom back in action and the car being reliable. What happened to Al? Intruction 5. A few poeple blew it. My codriver called it. I hesitated cause i didnt see banner tape ahead and no right4. Saw the instruction sign too late. Let off the gas and started to slow down. Saw the broken banner tape last second, crammed bakes. Looked up and saw subie headlights. |

Here are some tidbits:
Orders ultimately wounded the driveline and DNF'd the fun run. Really nice guy and crew. Had problems with a car taking out banner guard and opening up a shortcut. About 13 cars made that mistake. One of the cars realized the mistake and turned around (mistake #2) and resulted in hitting another competitor head on (who also was in the act of missing the instruction). I ain't never seen that before. Both cars damaged. Stage got tossed. Derik is fast and then some. Wished he wasn't handicapped with the 6 cyl BMW.. Eklund had a flat and the tire took out a brake line. Lots of mayhem and dust omg it got worse as the day went on. I added a dust window part way thru. Dillon rolled the rental car, broken wind shield and loss of oil from sitting on its side. Windshield being procured and should be good to go tomorrow. 33 cars finished the last stage I think. Suffered a bit of heat stroke , I'm tired. Can't wait for tomorrow. Some issues with the scoring system. Some issues with timing. Pretty much sorted out and scores will be posted in the AM in time for 'comments' before FCO. |
Max's car will live to see another day, but it won't be continuing this weekend. The left front frame horn took ALL the impact. The rear beam is also bent from the car being pushes backwards into an embankment. Forward of the firewall, and left side, is the only bad damage.
The subie made it back to service where it promptly spilled its guts all over the place. They headed out around 4pm. Chris and Robert are doing well in the Focus. It keeps on a going! |
